I'd like to return to the subject for one minute and reiterate just how fraked up the ankle design is for Rodimus!!!

Yep. Poor design, poor QC. My Hasbro Rodimus didn't survive one transformation before the ankle disintegrated into a million pieces.

Mine has survived just fine...but I always have issues with the ankles. They would have been better on ball joints!!!

Odd, I never had any of the well documented issues with my Rodimus.

...on that note, I'm trying to sell my complete MIB one....if anyone wants it.

Just transformed mine again for about the 100th time... These horror stories make me nervous.

Other than the side leg panels falling off during transformation (which was an issue right out of the box four years ago) still no problems. Inspected the gray shoulder joints and no sign of wear there either. Good.

I bought MP Rodimus from a board member just this week. My first time playing with the mold. (Mine's actually the Takara version, but I'm posting it here, since the conversation is current.)

I can see why many don't like him. The transformation is hard the first time. Posing him is frustrating: Tight joints, but they—especially the ankles—seem to want to lock in all the wrong positions. I have a hard time getting him to be stable.

AND—horror of horrors—in the middle of my first attempt at transforming him, I broke a piece. I didn't have the feet in the right position and was trying to get the arms to lock into vehicle mode. Tried to jam the arms in there, and broke off one of the chromed pieces on the side of Rodimus' arm.

I was able to fix it with super glue... I hope it stays solid.

And even with all of those issues: It's a damn beautiful toy! Impressive transformation, and looks flipping gorgeous in both modes! If you're willing to work for it, this thing is a work of art.

My second one was never transformed becuase after my first I was so afraid it would break. I posed the second one and set it on the shelf and a few days later heard a "thunk" come from the display cabinet....it was one of his arms laying beside him.

My first one had its ankle just fall off after picking it up and it had been transformed a few times.

I don't think age has anything to do with this toys issues

Hi, this toys r us version has popped up on Ebay a few copies my question is it worth these prices below?

Does he even have ankle tilt? I know hes a bit of an old dated figure now so accept if he hasn't.

I was holding out for dx9 carry but still think this dude looks more the part and will look nicer with the rest of my mp collection.

I understand this version is the improved version for transformation looking at TRX26 review although I probably wouldn't transform him anyway. Not fussed about the trailer ether

    £108 pre owned
£120 new sealed (from someone I have brought from before)
Or one for £106 new but not sure about the seller looks a bit dodgy

Do these prices look legit or a bit of a RIP off ?

Thank you all for your time

Are you aware of the shoulder issue? I’d recommend you get the preowned one, at least you can see that the shoulder is intact. £108 seems a bit much for preowned. I wouldn’t pay no more than $100 or £73.
It does have some ankle tilt due to transformation.

    Thanks for the advice
I thought it was a bit much for a pre owned one too, I've heard about exploding shoulders? What's all that about? So thought a brand new one would be a better bet? As so close to the pre owned price

If you know where to get replacement shoulders and know your way around a pin punch, then for the price, it’s slightly the better value.
    Edit*
The exploding shoulders are either present out of the box (exploded in package but not visible) or explode on their own. Some people say it’s the plastic used, the tension of the ratchet spring or both.

I'm reading through this thread and starting to get the idea of the scale of problems now. Dam and I see why you suggested the used one now makes sense. It's a bit of a risk and a leap of faith going for a new one. Are those replacement parts mentioned still readily available do you know? Only worry is this thread is quite old like the figure.
I'm guessing the reason there are still sealed ones around is people are too scared to open them as while in the box they still look in one piece.
I can't do misb I have to get them out to really appreciate them thats just me.
