nice pics, but the colours on this toy look like complete shit next to the takara version. Offshoot looks excellent though. reckon i'll pick this guy up for him and bung hot rod in the rodimus trailer for the sake of doing something with him and the trailer i have no real display use for (it's a fun accesory though).

The dark grey face is what really kills it for me. It cheapens the whole look IMO, and I don't really care for the sticker look. He is an excellent figure though, and I suppose will be a passable substitute for anyone unwilling to buy the Japanese version.

In summary, it's a good toy, it just looks a bit cheap in lack of paint apps (regardless of followint the toy pallete) and stuff like the mismatched hips and knees, different colour hinges and red welder just make it the weakest western release of a MP mold to date.

Got it! Love it! He will definitely be used as Hotrod. I can't believe they were insane enough to include a sticker sheet for the are "arrows". Also what's with the con sign?

How close is the red to the Takara version? Does it match enough to use the Takara Trailer with it?

The red isnt that close but might look ok in the trailer, havent tried that yet....

So far I have quite a few issues with my US Rodimus vs Takara version:

+my box of 2 came from TRU, it was enormous for the 2 boxes in it could have fit at least 2 more. The box was smashed and so were the 2 inside it. Both rodimus boxes were basically open due to the damage.

+I have opened the box with the most damage and he has an extremely floppy spoiler. I dont see how i can tighten it so anyone who has taken apart the takara version plz help! I havent opened the second one yet.

+his hood where the matrix is store is slightly open in vehicle mode and wont close. The pics if the first post of this thread kind of show that but mine is at least double to triple that.

+Other than that he transforms a lot easier than the takara version. Back clip is nice and easy to do. Legs go easier. Its nice. However the colors are blech but I will live with them.

+The difference in plastic is very obvious between both versions. The takara version which I thought felt a little cheap before now feels much more sturdy than the US release. Its still fine but its more bendy whereas the takara is more solid.

Overall its still a great figure just very unhappy about the shipping issues. I posted another topic, others are having the same shit shipping.

If anyone can help me get the hood closed and the spoiler tight please let me know!!!!

Now that you mention it when I watched the video review someone posted I noticed the hood looked like it wasn't fully seated. If this becomes a common complaint I may suck it up and get the Takara release. I wish Peaugh would hurry up with his review...

you'll have to wait till tomorrow if you get it from me. its 11:20PM here i'm just about out of gas...

opened my second rodimus to find the same issues. floppy spoiler and hood doesnt shut all the way. I also REALLY don't like the new elbow joints. They are a backwards step engineering wise and look really bad, especially compared to the takara one. still though, all in all he's a great figure.

So the Hasbro Roddy is just as bad or even worst than the TT version?
I am eagerly waiting for Hasbro's version not only for the Targetmaster, but also colors that seems to be doing it for me.

I'm gonna say its going to be more durable in the long run but only by a small margin. its not as good aesthetic wise (which is also opinion) and engineering wise(fact). I like the new MP Prime matrix it comes with, its center is more like the cartoon one. And the targetmaster is nice, but kinda sloppy lookin in his hand. He also lacks quite a bit of paint in odd places and his face plastic looks weird.

I got mine at comic-con and it feels more sturdy to me than the Takara one. However, I'm not quite sure how to get the Targetmaster to fit on his hood in vehicle mode. It balances there a little but doesn't seem to peg in.

This pic ALMOST makes me wanna pick up the Takara Roddy to be displayed with the US Roddy I'm expecting tomorrow in the mail. ALMOST. Haha. We gotta see pics of US MP with the trailer. Someone was right when they said we normally get reviews of stuff loooooooong before it hits retail, but for this release all the reviews are a no show? Peaugh, ya listening?

A lot of people got burned on the first release of the Takara mold, so many of the people who were going to buy the U.S version probably waited for reviews. Which kind of explains why we've just now been getting them.

So is the spoiler painted? or is it molded yellow

Mine arrived yesterday in a crushed box and pretty badly crushed packaging with hardly anything for padding. I opened up the one with the most damage to the package (I bought 2) and I hafta say I like him.

I never got the Takara version, and after all of the complaints I'd heard about I was leary to get this guy but he seems like a nice figure to me. I haven't tried to transform him yet, but that's normal for me anyway as I always do that.

He is tempting me to buy the upcoming rerelease of the Takara version however, so I can have him in both bot modes. Guess I'll hafta see what my funds will be around that time.

i prefer the japan face colour but at least the more affordable tag means i can get this and treat it more as a toy to fiddle with! Im curious about the difference in plastic, the seemingly more fragile feeling TT vs the hasbro version.

Yes the Grey Face plastic almost makes him look like a really cheap KO version.

Also, I've transformed the first one I opened about 5 times now. After owning the Takara one for so long i know where to be careful but alas it doesnt matter i guess. The tabs that plug into his legs that form the rear of the car are showing stress marks already. And I know to be careful of these as it was one of the takara version issues. Guess this plastic IS WEAKER than the Takara one like I thought, as my multiple takara versions have yet to show the stress marks. And I've been extremely careful on all versions.
