I actually don't have experience with shapeways stuff, so not completely sure. Just red paint should do though. I've used Games Workshop before.

Nice review, Cook. Though double jointed knees hardly seem like something that should be expected. How often do those really happen in a Transformer figure?

    Or elbows.

They're both generally considered a frivolity. Arcee only has the double-elbows, and the wide range of knee articulation because she needs them for transformation.

And Starscream has near 180 degree range in his elbows, anyways, if you use the slider axle as a pivot, rather than the normal hinge. That's how you give him all his awesome sycophantic poses.

Late to the party as usual, but when FE's were released this time last year I had ZERO interest in PRIME. Now that's all changed quite a bit. And Starscream is my latest edition. Damn, he's nice! A fairly small and uninteresteing jet becomes a fantastically tall, hunchbacked and sweetly articulate sycophant... what's not to love?

I was the same way. I swore up and down I wasn't buying any of it. This is the mold that changed it for me.

Problem is, Hasbro was like a hardcore crackdealer. They gave US these FE figures, and IMHO every Fe is better that the prid, then they cancel the Fe, and run full production of cheaper prid stuff. Now I look at my Fe stuff with satisfaction, and I look at some the prid stuff like.."why again did I #$%king buy this shit"?

I really like this one more and more. You gotta love the scout sized jet, that unfolds to almost voyager height. Lots of detail, underpassed articulation...this is still one of the top gems of the line.

Yep, same boat my friend... I wasn't buying a single one. Then I needed a "fix" one day and picked up (PRiD) Arcee. I found that she was awesome, but still held off for a while... Then after completing some movieverse "needs" (both Soundwave's and Wheeljack) I still had a plastic crack addiction that needed tending to. Long story short I started picking up random figures here and there. I now own:

    Optimus
    Bulkhead
    Arcee
    Wheeljack
    Cliffjumper
    FE Terrorcon Cliffjumper
    Rumble
    Knock Out
    Megatron
    FE Starscream
    Vehicon x2
    FE Vehicon

That's a healthy pile of loot for "not getting any" :lol

Also hoping to add FE Optimus, FE Bulkhead, FE Arcee, FE Cliff (regular version) and PRiD Soundwave... Whew.

p.s. I still haven't seen the show yet either!

Very similar, but not quite. IIRC, the dark grey paint on the Hasbro version is closer to black on the Takara.

    That's about it.

An excellent piece. Don't get me wrong: I love the Voyager, but the Deluxe has more character.

I'm surprised at this point that no 3rd party has released a more accurate head sculpt yet.

I..don't see how the head can be much more accurate other than giving him a red forehead spike. Paying an extra $10+ for a third party head seems redundant.

He's missing the lines from his eyes on either side of his face, the eyebrows are too short & the shape of his cheekbones/mutton chops are all wrong...
