I build Gundams myself and those are 6-7inches high average around 3-4 hours to build.

    I LOVE THIS THING!!!!

It's a great piece and looks spectacular. I can't believe the amount of detail they put into it. Even if half the stuff you put together gets hidden, it's still really cool to put it in there.

My only issue with the model was that all of my chrome was pretty thick. I had to shave some off in areas to get pieces to fit together and unfortunately didn't shave off enough on one of the chrome shoulder tank things which caused it to crack. You can barely see it, but I know it’s there. I'm a little bummed, but not put off by it.

Also, that "hot screwdriver to the fingers" trick is a must for anyone who wants to actually pose the hands.

Oh, thanks! Now the pre order just has to stay open until payday...

By the looks of it, this thing may replace ROTF Optimus on my shelf. Either that or it'll go with my Gundams.

I have a question - are the sprue or cut marks obvious? Or are they hidden from sight? I'm interested in this kit and the above can be a deal breaker for me. My bad if the above query has already been answered.

Honestly, if you use model snippers, they aren't that bad. I think like any other model you build though, of you just pull the parts off the tree by hand, the mold points will be much more obvious. I do believe I'll ber painting miner though, seeing how it comes with the decals type on ther parts :) .

Yeah, they show a little in some spots, especially the chrome. It's not that noticeable in most areas though.

Well I'm about two hours into my build. I have to say, this kit is tough. Particularly the chest. Several parts seems to have extremely low tolerances, and no less than two of the chest pipes were slightly oblong and way too big to fit in their holes. And for whatever reason, the head pops off at the lower neck joint with little force. I remember putting together Perfect Grade sets back in high school, and not having nearly this much trouble.

Still, the thing is beautiful, even with just the chest and legs completed. As soon as I'm done, this is going under glass. Forever.

Yes it's a tough kit, I started last night and got thru the hands. I spent a considerable amount of time doing the finger/hot screwdriver fix and that seems to have been worth it.

This kit looks like a beast but the end product is so worth it! I was never much a Gundam fan, or even modeling building in general as a kid, but I did enjoy putting together the Kotobukiya Rockman Protoman kits and hoping it's about the same general level of complexity. Can't wait to get him built up and posed in a fighting stance against my prettied up Masterpiece Movie Starscream! Would be great if they made a Megatron kit with the same exact and screen accurate detail!

Thanks for the replies guys - I appreciate it! If I can find one at an affordable price I will pick it up. The level of detail is amazing!

I used a candle and heated a larger screwdriver for 20-30 seconds. Any longer and it will liquify the plastic.

I got through the majority of the chest work today and I must say that this guy is going to be stunning when he is completed. I also must say that while I love this guy, the clear windows don't fit properly anywhere. I'm going to have to do something since I can't get the left windshield to stay in place. It is driving me crazy.

I do think it will be worth it though. He really is a work of art and a great addition to my collection. Once I just wish they would do a Megatron to go with Prime. Why must everyone (Takara, Hasbro, even 3rd-Party Manufacturers) always do Prime and BB? What ever happened to it being Prime and Megs? Add in Bee if you want for the kiddies, but I want my Megs dammit.

Man, this thing continues to impress me. I compared it to some CG pictures and almost everything that is on the CG is on the figure itself.

On a side note, if Takara continued with this line and created a DMK Jazz, I would be all over that.

    Done.

It is as amazing as I had hoped. Now bring on Megs, pretty please.
