Barely had any parts left after building robot mode. Shoved the 2 human kreons into the jailcell on the back. Changed up the arms a bit and made a fusion cannon with leftover parts.
I was incredibly excited to pick up this set, unfortunately I now despise Kre-O. I love the little Kre-Ons (the cons anyway, the humans look terrible). My biggest problem is missing pieces and the fact that these bricks don't lock as well as Lego bricks. It's really weird. It seemed like every time I added a block the whole torso fell apart. I have never, in all my years of building kits like this had anything like that happen. Some bricks of the same sort would be tighter than others and generally it was a huge hassle. It's a shame too, because I wanted to try Ratchet and the larger Bumblebee.
If you're missing pieces, Hasbro will send them to you. See here: KRE-O TRANSFORMERS Construction Sets Replacement Parts
Do these fit together scale wise? I love the larger optimus, screamer and megatron, but would the smaller vehicles fit in with them?
Truck mode is nice, but I did find two issues with assembly: 1. His pallete does lead to some confusion in the assembly. 2. stacking same size bricks are a pain to remove, wish they had thought of that. Now, to get my Lego containers.
I think my instructions for Megatron were missing a page or two, or something. The pics on the box, and the ones in the Hasbro Toy Shop show his shoulders with the wheels in the back and the doors stuck on them somehow... my guide stops before ever putting those in place. I cobbled some of the extra pieces into place to make it look similar, but wasn't able to find a good way to put the doors on. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the Megatron figure. I have all but four of the kits so far, and he's probably my least favorite in robot mode, but that's just because of the odd proportion of his waist. I've had no problems with missing pieces, or of pieces not fitting together well, in any of my sets. They all lock together as nicely as my few Lego sets do. Although I don't do much with Lego anymore, so it's difficult to compare them apples-to-apples. Definitely getting the rest of the Kre-o gang eventually, though I think I'll wait on Starscream and Sideswipe to see if they ever get a discount price. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they produce some new ones and not just a bunch of re-colors...
Mine also lacks instructions for wheels and doors on the arms. I looked up the instructions on Hasbro's website and they also didn't mention these things. It looks like it may have been a late change or something thought up by whoever took the promotional shots. Does anyone's instructions show how to put the wheels and doors on the arms? If so, a scan would be most welcomed
most of the sets have slightly different box and product shot compositions then their actual instructions guide you to build. im not really sure why...i suppose they went ahead with the printed materials before any finalizations where done on the sets themselves
Picked this guy up today and immediately did my own thing. Made a much nicer, more convincing Megatron than what was intended. The Kreons crack me up. I look at them and giggle stupidly. Bricks are really high quality for not-Lego. Almost on par with Lego. (Oddly the human Kreons feel cheaper like Mega Bloks) Once I'm enjoyed my MOCatron I'll attempt a transformable version. I'm determined it's possible. Anything's possible with Lego/Kre-O.
Well it's funny (more like depressing, really) that you mention that, as I thought to myself "Y'know, I should photograph this in case I forget how to build it" but thought I'd remember it. So after taking him apart to sample the vehicle mode out of curiosity I have completely forgotten how I did it. All I remember is I essentially switched the armour parts for the arms an legs and situated both leg tires inside at an angle ala DOTM. I'm sure I'll remember it eventually but I'm really bummed I forgot so quickly. Honestly it's weird. The main draw was initially the Kreons, but I'm spending more time coming up with Mocs for big Megs than caring much about adorable little Megs.
I hated Legos as a kid and these Kreo's aren't exactly warming me to the idea. That being said, thanks for taking the time to review and post pics.
