I searched and didn't see a thread for this guy, so... I finally found Mudflap at Target yesterday, which means Skids is no longer alone on my DOTM shelf! Anyway, quick review: Mudflap is now also a Chevy Beat/Spark. Both cars had plenty of personality in ROTF, but I don't think DOTM Mudflap loses anything from the change. He is a completely new mold from Skids. Mudflap's stripes are very noticeably thicker than Skids'. Not sure if I prefer the wider or thinner stripes, but I do wish they were uniform. It should be noted that although both Twins are the same car, they do not have identical dimensions in alt mode - Skids is a little bit longer. Mechtech weapon is nice, but not very fitting for Mudflap. It's a flip out axe, but I would have preferred something more akin to Skids', or at least with colors that better match Mudflap (he has some of that grey on him, but it's only in his biceps and legs). Transformation is simple enough, and consists mostly of folding and hinging panels. The hinge that connects the hood and windshield to the body had a molding error which made it constantly pop off on mine, I had to shave a little plastic off, making it pretty lose but much better than before. The result is a short, pudgy bot; he's not nearly as pot-bellied, however, as photos might show. His proportions aren't the greatest, but he makes do. His legs certainly turned out better than on Skids, and he stands very solidly. His articulation is actually very impressive. His arms can go anywhere (plus, he has clip points on his shoulders), and sport a double hinge at the elbow. He has Mechtech ports on both arms, though I prefer to plug in his axe to the bigger arm. His backpack, while formed by the entire top of the car, folds up much nicer than you would expect. Here he is with Skids: And both Twins with deluxe Bee: If you have Skids, you are almost definitely planning on getting Mudflap anyway. It's hard to say whether he is better than Skids, both have some drawbacks and pluses. Mudflap definitely has better leg articulation and some nice detailing and paint all around. Skids' arms are a little too lanky and long, but his chest is slimmer. Mudflap does look good next to his brother, which is what really matters. Ultimately, if you want the Twins to fill your movie lineup, go ahead and pick them up. If you are just looking for the highest caliber of the line, there are many other places (deluxe Ratchet, Topspin, and Bee) to look first.
I actually kinda want this figure; the color scheme is cool and the car mode is slick. More so than Skids at least. I just wish the stripes were a bit thinner.
I bought this figure awhile back intending to do a head swap, but his noggin is pinned together instead of with a screw. Since the joint doesn't seem to be a ball joint, I didn't want to break the head only to find out the head swap wouldn't work. I intended to return it, but I like the bot mode enough to get over the awful head and decided to keep it. His mechtech is the same as deluxe Prime's, but with different colors.
While I like Skids, it looks like Mudflap is, just like before, the better figure of the two, design and articulation-wise. I can't wait to find one. I can't have just one half of the twins.
I really wanted these guys to be good. They're my favourite new characters in the franchise outside of some of Animated's wonderful cast. But they're just not doing it for me. The giant, unbroken car hood chests really throw off their look substantially, and Skids' feet are... yikes. So I'll just happily stick with my RotF Deluxe and HA versions. Too bad, because the new car decoes are hawt.
Liked the new Skids, definitely plan on getting this one. I may swap out Nitro Bee's weapon with his, so that the twins have the same gun.
I love this guy. He's so short and fat and cute. He looks great with standing next to Skids. My only problem with him is his doors and hood fall off when transforming him to robot mode.
Mudflap is quite awesome. Way better than the ROTF version (looking at it here on my desk in comparision, he just looks like a big ball of two-toned mud). The detailing on Mudflaps chest is just amazing. I love how the silver paint job brings out this intricacies. His articulation is superb. And his kibbles folds away quite nicely.
I found him before I found Skids. Both have things that could have been better. HA is still leagues better than these. Overall, I like Mudflap better, smaller feet for the win.
I love these two better than last time. Less frustrating transformations and all the vertically challenged goodness I expect from them. ^_^ I do have the new HA Skids though, and I hope they do Mudflap and make him easier to find this time.
Meh, once you reverse his feet he has knee articulation. Only at that point he has HUGE heels is all. Anyway, I bought both the other day why I don't know, but they're not too bad. They're definately better than their ROTF counterparts.
Picked up Mudflap yesterday, he is an awesome and vibrant little dude who easily earns a 5/5. Also yes it is true, he again beats skids in every way, shape, and form.
These guys are so great! Even Tuner Mudflap is a steal if you can get him at store price. MUST buy these before they're gone, or you'll regret it. Don't miss out on these wonderful toys. BUY BUY BUY. Buy as many as you want, buy them all.
I've practically bought all of the DOTM molds out at my local Walmart. Heck I've started buying duplicates of them, one of them being Starscream to be repainted as Ramjet (the Decepticon numbers are severely low this time around).
