Botcon 2011 Exclusive Autotroopers

Botcon 2009 introduced a new type of attendee exclusives; the troop builder sets. To give you an instant army, Fubpub created a package of three identical toys which served as a troop. For Botcon 2009, Scourge got a set of three Sweeps. For Botcon 2010, Sky-Byte got a set of three Sharkticons. For Botcon 2011, Sideswipe gets a set of three Autotroopers. While the previous troop builders got individual bios and tech specs, the Autotroopers all share the same inserts. They’re essentially drones with identical backgrounds. The Autotroopers are repaints of the Cybertron Ratchet mold.

Alt Mode: Though the Autotroopers are white (like Ratchet); they are different enough. I never bothered to buy that toy, so I'm unable to post up a quick comparison shot. The white, black, and blue color scheme looks fantastic. There are plenty of different paint apps to make them look unique. If I had opened my Elite Guard Prowl, I'd show that they would be best friends. These guys do sport a new kind of Autobot sigil that is different from the Elite Guard one.



Robot Mode: The thing about the Animated Cybertronian Ratchet mold is that it looks great for the portly guys, it does look pretty weird for a police security drone. It'd be great if these came with extra donuts. The white and black color scheme does give these guys the proper feel, so I can't hate on it. I can see how people might think that the Autotroopers look boring, but having three together really seals the deal. The unfortunate thing is that these new heads have some weak paint apps on them. The head looks different enough from Fisitron, so you don't have to worry about that at all. One of my Autotroopers suffers from having a loose hip-joint. It's not bad enough to affect the toy, but the white plastic used on the thighs are pretty gummy.

Overall: The Autotroopers look good. Do they look good enough to warrant the $92 retail price? Lucky for most of you, these Autotroopers are all identical, especially when it comes to the paperwork. If you just want one or two, you're not going to be missing out on much if you don't get the third figure. In all honesty, I don't think the Autotrooper look good enough to just stand on their lonesome. You need to at least have two to have a more complete experience.
