Botcon 2011 Exclusive Toxitron

A few years ago, there was a repaint of G2 Laser Optimus Prime painted up in an ugly lime green. That repaint was named Toxitron. Unfortunately we never got that toy, nor a Classics repaint… BUT we got him as one of the exclusives for Botcon 2011. Toxitron comes as an add-on convention exclusive and is packaged with G2 colored Sideswipe; as a repaint of Animated Voyager Optimus Prime.

Alt Mode: As you can tell from the pictures, Toxitron is all sorts of ugly. It's ugly in a good way of course with neon purple and day-glo yellow-green. It does have the look and feel of the original toy.*I have to admit, for an ugly toy, overall it looks pretty good. Though there aren't any remolds done on this mode of the toy, there are a lot of new paint apps. I'm not too huge of a fan of the sludge on the sides, but the gunk on the nozzle of the gun is pretty good. Fortunately it's mostly all on the axe and not on the robot mode (besides the gunk on the Decepticon sigil). Unfortunately the coloring of the roof doesn't match the coloring of the plastic. Besides that, it would have been nice if the light bar was removed.



Robot Mode: I don't remember if the legs automatically swung down on my Voyager Optimus Prime, but both of my toys just click through the*transformation. I don't exactly know if the arm swinging mechanism works very well. Toxitron looks interesting in this mode, but the coloring doesn't look as good as it did in the showcase. While I do like the day-glo green, I would have much rather preferred it to match the dirty yellow used in the comic. That being said, it's very weird that the face and neck are the flourescent lime green. The paint apps on my Toxitron's face looks a little sloppy, but that could have been a production choice. I also have no idea why there's a red square on the right arm. The axe and gun surprisingly look good with Toxitron, though it would have been sweet if a plunger was included.



Overall: Toxitron was a total surprise and a great convention exclusive. Though I might have preferred it to be Wreck-Gar, it does make sense that it is a repaint of Prime. The set at the convention is pretty pricey, but if you only if you're a fan of the Transformers Animated style. Good luck to you all.

Duuuuuude... So beautiful.

Not toy-related per se, but I'm very curious about his bio/role in the comics

He's basically Bizarro Optimus Prime running around with the Stunticons. We see him run around like an idiot, but then there's an Ocean's Eleven twist involving him at the end... kinda.

That's not even the best way to describe it without ruining his character.

Great pic, my wantage has gone up 10 notches.

The various 'splat' paint effects help sell the figure for me. I'm kinda on the fence about whether I want to try scoring one or not.
