Cool altmode, awesome weapon mode, badass headsculpt, cool colors, but that robot mode design is just...Awkward. Could have been way better. :(

I was originally only going to buy Sandstorm and Whirl, I thought the others didn't look too good in robot mode, but man, it seems like even the ones I don't like in bot mode have some great play value and features in other modes. I'll probably end up buying them all as a result. To be honest, I also wouldnt having all their non-movie Soldier Guys

Agreed, but like I said above...

At first I was all ready to skip this guy, but who am I kidding, with pics like these there is no way I cannot buy him.

    Utterly gorgeous.

I thinking about drilling out ROTF Prime's hand a bit so he can hold the gun mode. Has anyone does something like this before? Bad idea?

Same idea I had. I was just going to use a smaller drill bit so that the rectangle shape of his grip would flex out...

Kind of fun, but the really stubby forearms just bother me a lot. I'm finding it hard to get good poses out of him. The guns are awesome, though.

Hmmm....just also noticed that in weapon mode, the human is tenderly cradling the robot's head in his lap. Where's my Mikaela figure....

Really liking the look of this guy, with the unique alt mode & decent robot mode (with paint apps!).

But I have to ask, is he the best of the bunch, or is Sandstorm etc better?

He's a neat fig, but honestly I bought this one for the 3mm clip weapons.

Out of the four Basic HAs I have, this guy's my favorite. Not only is Backfire himself badass, but Spike is also pretty cool.

His robot mode is indeed awkwardly proportioned, but at this size class I don't complain. Actually I think he looks rather unique :)

Posability is just fine, and head sculpts and paint apps are beautiful.

Human figure is a bit shorter than ROTF ones.

the only thing I don't like about Backfire is the hands...I've never been a big fan of tfs not having real hands...

yeah weird hands, awesome head sculpt though, GREAT light piping. The clips on the guns of mine are super loose, like they just flop around. Overall great though, kind of like the vehicle mode more.

Yeah, I'm not too fond of when figures have that "hands molded inside a piece" deal.

But his badass head and torso sculpts make up for it.

If I get any HA basic figure, it'll be this one, I think.

It looks like it should be a Decepticon, though.
