Just got him. Really cool figure. Jet mode is a bit unstable, but it still looks nice.

By the way, was the sword was a late addition to Thundercracker (as it's not acknowledged at all)?

No, but because the sword does not count as part of the Mechtech weapon, but ratehr just a feature of the mould, he got to keep it even though they swapped the larger sword/gun out for Roadbuster's.

Just noticed this but what's the deal with TC's number stamped over his left wing/shoulder? Kind of an eyesore for an otherwise great looking paint job and mold.

I noticed that on mine too. Doesn't bother me that much, but I suppose a little rubbing alcohol would get it off if you wanted to...just be careful to not get it on any paint apps you want to keep.

Maybe I’m getting senile in my old age and being tricked by the pretty colors, but Thundercracker feels like he’s made of a higher quality plastic than Starscream. He also holds together better in jet mode than my Starscream (SS has a drooping nose in alt mode) and has tighter joints. On a whole the toy has a feel more akin to something that came out several years ago. Again, maybe it’s just the color of the plastic and the paintjob, but whatever it is – this is a hell of a great figure. Hopefully the Skywarp deco will be released here someday.

It's a bit hit and miss.

About the droopy nose, I think I have a tip to avoid buying one without the droopy nose ;From the packaging, if you see a small gap between the nose and the fuselage, the nose will likely be a bit droopy. If not, it might mean the hinges are tight enough.

Just bought 2 TC and 1 SS extra myself. I decided to open up the TC which seemed to have a slight gap between the nose and the fuselage ; I was right, the nose is kinda droopy, but it's not that bad. Joints are good to OK. Plastic and paintjob don't seem to be better than my SS's though.

Now I'm a little wary of opening up my two DOTM TCs (one for bot mode, one for alt mode, and for two of his chainsaw mechtech weapons), both still MISB. But wouldn't a little nail polish on the hinges fix the droopy nose problem?

I do see a little bit of this issue with my custom painted DOTM Starscream, but the extra paint makes all of his joints super tight, and the nose droop isn't terrible but it is slightly noticeable compared to the tightness of every other joint on him.

I love this toy! This is easily one of my favorites. I instantly love it. Tight joints, cool transformation, great looking in both modes, and really nice articulation! Stands up well despite the tiny feet.

Tried that one of my droopy nosed Starscream's.... to no avail...

The problem is that there seems to be a bit of varying size/distance to the pinholes ( a total of 4 pinholes ) which hold the little grey hinge beams ; this means, if the pinhole is only a bit too wide, the hinge construction won't hold up that well. No nail polish is gonna solve this slight mold issue.

The joints on my figure are pretty tight, too -- but considering the abundance of stress marks around them, I think I might prefer them a touch looser.

Unfortunately, the nose feels tight (when I'm transforming the figure, anyway) AND droops in alt mode. :/

Just opened up both of my Deluxe TCs and they're pretty cool figures! There are some issues with sloppy paint apps (one has a bit of red overspray on his left shoulder, the other has some missing silver paint on his right 5mm port chest piece; nothing I can't fix, really, with some rubbing alcohol or silver paint).

The nose canopies on both are a little looser compared to the other joints, but they don't droop without being handled roughly (the undercarriage bit that flips down to form the back of his chest helps with support).

One other quibble to note is that the wing pieces in alt mode don't line up exactly but that's mainly because the back tail fin section doesn't tab into his legs very securely. Not a deal breaker; it's annoying sure, but the rest of the quality is pretty spot on, particularly the red and silver stripes on his wings and fins. Really nice!

I bought two TCs; one for alt mode, and one for bot mode; plus I wanted two of his mechtech chainsaw weapons. They're pretty neat and he looks great with them! His extra gunblade bits I gave to my custom painted DOTM Deluxe Starscream and the gray plastic definitely works better on his TFTM1 color scheme.

Overall, he's a keeper and I can't wait to add Skywarp to the mix when I hit up Japan and complete the movie Seekers! (Hope Hasbro releases a G1 colored Starscream; they can take more of my money then too!)

I passed on this guy the first time I saw him, but picked him recently. He is so much better in hand than the pictures show.

In design this mold is awesome. But the two I bought were covered in stress marks. Still a sweet toy. I hope they make a voyager along these lines so all the stress marks can be avoided with a little thicker plastic.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one, xeno -- sometimes I read these threads and feel like the unluckiest TF collector ever. :)

Just some more snapshots having fun with TC and Screamer. Enjoy!

Master vs. apprentice in a sword/chainsaw sparring match. XD

    Screamer: "Who's the master?!"

    TC: "I AM!"

TC doing his best Sideswipe impression! XD That or Saturday Night Fever's Disco Inferno dance!

Recently modded TC's mechtech chainsaw weapons so they can lock out now (took out the springs, tightened some screws, did have to sand one of the weapon parts down and glued a plastic bit for more resistance).

Oy Wes Crayon, Cybermen Decepticons?! NIce. And yeah I got most of the stress marks with a hair dryer, but on accident I loosened up some of the joints so I had to put a drop of super glue and rotate. lol
