Hi all, just collected my pre-order of “Not Reflector” from a local toy shop and I thought I’d do a simple review on him for the benefit of all you guys. Do pardon that I’m not too much of a wordsmith, so there’ll not a lengthy wall of text to go through.

Okay, now let’s take a look at the box.

    Front:

    Back:

Opening the box, the contents are packaged and laid neatly on a plastic tray, together with one sheet of instructions.

Close-up of the contents in the box:

As you can see, a plethora of accessories come with the three robots. At first glance, you can see 3 rifles, 3 daggers, 2 rifle accessories, shield/camera base, lens, flash and tripod stand. Some of the accessories are very small, especially the dagger holders, so be sure to put them away from small children.

Taking all the accessories and laying them out in this picture.

Following the instructions of putting all the stuff onto the robots:

I like how the accessories differentiate 3 similar-mould triplets into 3 distinctly different robots. Like the other Perfect Effect products, the robot figures, though small, have many points of articulation. Other than the standard articulated neck, shoulder, elbows, waist, hips and knees, Scouting Force X also come with ankle articulation as well.

Now let’s us take a closer look at each individual component of “Reflector”.

    SFX-01 Edge:

    SFX-02 Shield:

    SFX-03 Bullet:

SFX-03 impresses me the most in terms of the thought process in the design. The long piece of tripod stand not only serves as a weapon for SFX-03, it also acts as a balance to counter the back heavy robot when the “camera lens” is attached.

Remember the tiny daggers that come with the figures? They can be stored away at the back of the figures like this.

Really, these daggers are like a bonus item. There is really no need to include them in but the addition is highly appreciated.

A few more pictures of Team Scouting Force X and a size-comparison shot with their comrades-in-arms.

Now you may ask, is there any place to keep all those accessories on the toy itself when transforming the figures, or do you have to leave them aside? The answer lies in the next picture.

Yes, there are slots and space to keep all the extra accessories that are not necessary in the transformation so you’ll not lose them too easily.

Now that the extra parts are stored away in their places, we can now form the next transformation in the instructions sheet.
For those of you who are familiar to Power Rangers, you might recall that the Rangers sometimes call upon a Super Cannon or Bazooka weapon that needed the entire team to power and use? Hah, Team Scouting Force X does have a similar ability as well.

Having shown off their robot modes, we’ll now proceed to the Alt mode of an SLR camera. Transformation of the figures to the 3 camera components is very easy and they share identical transformation steps. Push down their arms, swing their forearms to the back, fold their legs to the back and you are done.

Fix them together side and side and attach all the camera accessories (flash, lens, camera top cover thingy, camera base/shield and tripod) and you’ll get the following pictures.

Size-comparison with Soundwave’s minions, PE’s Frenzy and Rumble and Classics Ravage.

Finally, we have “Reflector” in action, taking a picture of the Class of Mini-cons.

This ends my review of PE-11 Scouting Force X, AKA Relector. Thanks for viewing.

EDIT: Oops. Just realised I made a boo-boo in the attachment of the parts on 2 robot figures.
In the pictures, accessories for SFX-01 was attached to SFX-02 and vice versa. They should be switched over to the other. SFX-01 Edge is the Robot with the circular hole on its torso.

Nice review:thumbs2:  While I prefer this over the TFC version (due to the more accurate bot modes), I'm still kinda hesitant over the part-forming required for the transformation.

Excellent review! Wish they were just a tad taller but still awesome. They're like a deluxe that transforms into three bots. The size does make sense in that respect

Something that enticed me about the PE Rosanna and continues to impress me with these is the number and quality of small paint details on these figures, especially considering their miniscule size. I'm looking forward to getting mine :) .

I really love the bot modes, size, and weaponry. That's all a home freaking run. That Gatling gun with the jetpack is awesome. Would love to have these guys duke it out with my scout/ Deluxe set of figures as a squad like I plan for FP's Insecticons.

But the alt mode...ugh. It's creative, but super duper partsforming and ultimately poo. I mean, I really don't like small item alt modes that don't serve other functions, like Tape Deck Soundwave or Preceptor. I like vehicle or weaponry alt modes infinitely more. But that camera mode is way too simple and looks so poorly meshed together. The clashing colors is one of the worst offenders.

Also, this is about $50 too expensive. I would totally consider biting for $40, but those things are way too freaking small to be worth $90 + shipping. To compare, the combiner parts and engineering in Fansproject's Bruticus set totals around $100, and for that you get two decent sized Scouts and even larger weaponry that combines with other figures on top of the existing vehicle and robot modes. I don't buy this thing's price tag at all, or any of PE's prices to be honest.

To be fair, FP's prices are as low as they are because they're not making any money. It really can't be expected for the rest of the 3rd party outfits to follow that same non-profit business model.

I guess what's left is to see what TFC charges for their Reflector, which is much larger and sports LEDs. Would that be more of a fair comparison?
