Yes you are right, the shoulder plate can be locked by rotating 90 degree.
But that will intercept the cloak(esp. the head part) during action. Therefore I didn't clip that so that the pose can be better.

Let me do a picture showing this later :)

Great pics lushkwok. Am I the only one who's not really feeling this figure?

-The whole torso looks weird. He has a wasp waist, wide hips, and "demon-face syndrome" on his chest (thanks to whoever coined that, I think it was over Jolt)
-The movie-style head has sneaked a little too far away from the classic helmet for my taste. I also wish the brown had stayed away from the face.

    Plusses:
    -Vehicle mode is utterly beautiful
    -Love the fusion cannon
    -Awesome posability!

Those are some excellent pics!! I really like how little kibble there is on his robot mode; while it would be great if he was a little bigger, I think they'd lose that quality on a leader class version.

Edit: How does he look facing off against HftD battle blades Prime?

Toy Review - DOTM MechTech Voyager Megatron

Dark Of The Moon MechTech Voyager Megatron.

This is the greatest Transformer of all time. Not even Lugnut can compare to the glory that is Dark Of The Moon MechTech Voyager Megatron. For one thing, Megatron is finally a truck. For the first time, he is on equal footing to Optimus Prime. (Deliberate or not, this is also a neat nod to Prime's 'brother' comment in the first film.) Since he is a truck, it means the toy actually transforms into something real and not just a made-up pile of scrapmetal as Megatron did in the previous two movie toylines. In Mack truck mode, this toy has astonishing engineering. This is a one-piece Transformer with trailer, and yet the cab can turn independently of the trailer as in the picture below! If you cannot appreciate the genius of this, keep staring at the photo below until you do. Keep staring! Okay, good.

Some bits of the transformation back and forth are a bit tricky, particularly the front grille-and-bonnet and sides of the cab, but ultimately every single piece locks securely in where it should in both modes. (Except the tarpaulin in vehicle mode, unless you tie it down with Lilliputian ropes. What do you expect – it's a tarpaulin!)

In robot mode, Megatron carries a MechTech fusion cannon on his right arm, a tribute to his G1 namesake (and this toy will also be available with G1 Megatron [apparently in Megaplex colours] in Japan – the most brilliant Transformers two-pack ever.) MechTech seems to mean 'A Weapon That Does Stuff' and in this case if you push the ladder on the fusion cannon the sides extend out and forwards to make it a longer cannon. Megatron has one big eye and one small one (and this is also paralleled in vehicle mode, where one windscreen is much thicker than the other.) I am told that if I actually remembered anything from Revenge Of The Fallen I would know that Megatron got some face and arm damage at the hands of Optimus Prime (or something) and that this is a result of that.

To truly appreciate the brilliance of DOTM Voyager Megatron, you must understand that in over twenty-five years, HasTakTom has never attempted anything as bold as this toy. Until now, no toy in Transformers history has ever had a poncho. Not Lockdown, not the Jointron brothers, not even Drift - a character known for nothing more than his love of ponchos. The poncho transforms from shroud to tarpaulin (and back!) and you will get literally months of pleasure from transforming it back and forth. I love this toy so much, that I might even go back and buy some older Movie Megatron toys.

[Sky Shadow goes and looks through images of every single older Movie Megatron toy.]

    Ew.

Okay, so it turns out that I won't be buying them (except maybe that Voyager tank one with a lobster claw for an arm – he looks fricking awesome.)

There have been a lot of complaints about 'Hasbro grey' in recent years, and this toy is Hasbro's clear response to that. It states, in no uncertain terms, "#@(* you! Look at this marvel! Some of the greatest sculptures the world has ever seen are grey and this is yet another to add to that pantheon. Hasbro grey is awesome and you're a bunch of whingers".

In summary, it will be hard for Hasbro to top themselves after DOTM MechTech Voyager Megatron. So... how could HasTakTom incorporate the ingenuity of this toy into future Transformers releases?

I would say "more ponchos". Maybe a whole line of Transformers with ponchos or a new franchise: Transformers: Robots Disguised Through The Wearing Of Ponchos. Nevertheless, until they release a Lugnut toy with a poncho, this toy will remain the pinnacle of nearly three glorious decades of Transformers engineering.

I give this toy five ponchos out of five and my highest possible recommendation.

One other feature I failed to mention - the fusion cannon can lock in 'deployed' position if you rotate the ladder diagonally. Which makes for a very G1 Onslaughty vehicle mode:

Just got this guy from Sears in Canada. The only true complaint I have is the lack of paint. He has much sculpted detail on him, specifically the textured rust spots everywhere that would look great if they were painted.

Just picked him up straight from the Target backroom. Didnt even make it the shelf...

I have mixed thoughts on Megatron. I love the character. And I dont mind the truck mode or cloaked head. And he deserves a great final movie toy!

The mold is pretty awesome! I dont think he is "megatron" looking. And he is quite small. Almost a mega-deluxe... Animated Lockdown could beat him for sure!
    I may rename him Octane...

Bot mode is insanely detailed. Loads of wires and doodads. Very intricate conversion, too. Its not difficult. In fact its quite easy. But there are a few tiny bits you can pull apart and rotate around to make the bot mode look better. More Eeeevil! Nice articulation, too.

The bot has a lot of pin hinges. I wouldnt mid, but my legs are a little loose and I was hoping to tighten up screws... Looks like I'll be using clear nail polish again...

Mechtech is nice. I love the fact that it is a part of the truck mode. Well done.
Mine dosnt seem to stay open. I will unscrew it and see how to tab it out...

Truck mode could have been awesome. The mold is awesome. But the paint job is sub par. Especially for a charcter such as Megatron and a mold which you can obviously tell has been well engineered. A shame to under paint Megatron. Once again...

I would ABSOLUTELY buy a leader class of this mold. Well painted with a HUGE bfusion cannon pegged into the right arm. With two hands, please...

    My score:
    8 / 10

    Second opinions on Voy Megs...

There is a nice amount of paint on his dull grey thighs, crotchplate and mid section (abs). It almost looks like a silver wash?

    Its very subtle...

And if I had to choose between painting the truck sides and spare tire hubcaps or the bot mode. Yea, I would choose the bot mode...

But cant we have both? Ha!

This figure has an INSANE amount of details!

    Lovin this figure...

To keep his MT fusion cannon open, I used a clear rubber band around both spare tires.

It keeps the gun open and looks fine...

I also popped off his rubber cape. I kept the hood on his head. It is molded to fit into his chest bits and a tab slot on top of his shoulder... I kinda keep the cape wedged up under his smoke stacks on his back... It also "fills in" his skinny mid section and beefs up the bot mode... With the cape on his back, you get more posability from the left arm, too!

Why? It's got a build-in locking mechanism. Just twist the ladder clockwise.

Duh, the ladder (on the back of the MT gun) can be turned slightly to lightly lock in place.

    Thanks for the tip!

i know... i know....im just not impressed with this one once it was in my hand. yet every other dotm item i bought ive been impressed with.

I can see he may look cool in the movie. but the figure just looks like a wierd gremlin lookin thing. Tiny head...huge legs..I really liked rotf leader megs, with its flaws it sooo menacing and nasty lookin..as well as the rotf Voyager...Besides the Legs...its just killer..

This one, Man...Its just not that cool. I dont like how the fusion cannon looks. Massive legs..tiny torso and head..Shoulder sand arms dont look right. and the rubber cowl thing...its dumb. A GOOD idea..just dosent translate well. And when you put it on the truck, the tears are facing forwards...that looks dumb.

There is actually paint on this one despite the complaints, but it is not a good use of the paints. It looks like a brown..grey...Knock off

To each his own I guess. But I wouldent recommend this one til clearance season...
