Had a chance to look at and play with this guy a few weeks ago and he is pretty awesome, maybe not as an improvement over whats been seen before but certainly as an action figure.

Good articulation and easy transformation will make this far more suitable for kids than the previous incarntaions of prime, no fiddly panels or automorph to get stuck or cause problems :)

In bot mode he has the huge gas tanks and ma-hoosive! gun which has a mechtech gimmick allowing it to morph as you can see from the photos, it also appears to double as Primes engine in truck mode, what that means for the movie along with the obvious solar panels is anyones guess but its got to be good.

I would recommed picking him up, sure he doesnt look as movie accurate as the ROTF Leader or even Battle Blade but he is a hell of a lot of fun.

I like his reds and grays better on the DoTM figure compared to the HftD, especially the grays. The darker gray plastic stands out better than the HftD figure.

Overall, I've said again and again that this figure looks great. If not for the potentially awesome Ultimate Optimus Prime, he's a sure buy (but who am I kidding, they're both going to be mine :)  )

I don't know about the new Prime DOTM toys.....Almost looks like they are just out of ideas to make the toy more accurate and went a different direction with it...

Colors are actually quite a bit better then the HFTD voyager, but the rediculous proportions still look like a FAB or Powerbot to me, no sale.

Looks pretty decent in that comparison shot. I'm torn now. I like battle blades with matrix, but I love this guys transformation and gun. I don't want to own both. T_T I'll begrudgingly probably stick to battle blades for now.

I will have to say that this new mold falls flat when compared to the ROTF Battle Blades Prime, BUT is better than the original voyager mold that kicked around for a while.

I'm surprised Hasbro didn't reuse Battle Blades or at least mod it because of it's overall strength in both collectibility and play value. I wonder if we'll ever see that mold again now.

I'm not picking this one up, but if I missed out on ROTF Battle Blades, I'd definately choose this one over the old voyager Prime mold.

I imagine the change is down to how complicated the bb Prime is for kids, he is quite fiddly to change where as this Prime is more along the lines of clunk click Energon / Cybertron style :)

Yeah I'll give you that. That does make it more kid friendly. I've got boys who can't figure out the simplest of the movie lines let alone things like Mixmaster and the Twins.

I had the original Bumblebee (actually him after the upgrade) from the first movie. I turned him into a robot. Then never back to a car. Couldn't figure it out. Even with instructions. And I was 28 at the time.

So yeah...good job Hasbro for finally making them easier for the kids and not resorting to those big fat clunky Fast Action Battlers that don't feel like the movie toy that the kids want to begin with.

totally agree, not saying its the same for everyone but I felt completely backwards everytime I tried to transform some of the voyagers

Personally I hate this figure... It's just horrible, the truck mode is full with panels, holes and robot bits that just breaks the shape and colors... The bot mode is just too much disproportionated, still has a loot of kibble but instead of being in the back of the figure now is on the extremities...

Now, I appreciate that they intended to make it with a more easy transformation for kids, but this is just a half-ass work with too many shortcuts. For comparison, look at the BB OP (being both voyager class) the legs were fairly easy to transform, just separate the grill, extend all and then fold the pieces unto themselves; the arms were pretty much ready just take out the hand... the only really hard part was all around the torso area (chest, shoulders, back, etc) With this figure they could have kept many elements of the BB OP transformation and just adapted the new chest transformation used here which I find really good...

And that's not excuse for the lack of movie likeness of this figure, for example the new deluxe Starscream is a very good representation of the character with a simple transformation and a small size, proof that all this can be achieved.

In short that's why I find this figure a little lacking, more so compared to other DOTM figures, which they still look pretty good and accurate.

    I want the mechtech gun.

The figure just cheats too much for me to want it, though. I don't like how the wheels are on the inside of the arms and parts of his chest end up on the back of his legs with fake one being attached to the chest. And the chest being one solid piece really takes away from his look.

I got one yesterday he's definitely more fun to play with than the overcomplicated-but-accurate HTFD version and he looks more dynamic than the Movie 1 version. Kickass action figure with a fun transformation and several weapon options. BTW, the transformation is not "easy", just "easier".

I already have my movie-accurate Optimus Prime covered with ROTF Leader class, but I am more than happy to have Movie Prime in different style in my collection. This Voyager Prime and Ultimate Prime will be mine!

Best pictures I've seen me yet, these images sold me on the figure.
