Sorry folks, but paying around a hundred dollars for an 8 inch toy and having to macgyver simple things like mentioned above is a bloody ripoff.

C'mon man it's too early to jump into conclusions, it's only the first few of us who have gotten it so far.

I'll wait until the majority of the crowd here gets it & make a more informed judgment abt it.

amazon.jp delivered mine to my door about an hour and a half ago.

I already want to return it.

It was mis-assembled in the chest right out of the box. For the life of me I can't get it into car or truck mode without all kinds of stressed plastic....it's gonna snap. Nothing fits. Nothing aligns. Nothing pegs into place.

Even the paint isn't very good. I expect more for the price I paid!

    I guess it's a nice enough Rodimus figure....but it can't transform!

I'm so disappointed I feel like puking. All that anticipation and the toy can't even function. If anyone was on the fence I'd urge them to save their money. This thing is a total disaster.

Oh, this just reminds me of my painful experience of masterpiece 03 Starscream!

I just pray the 2 sets that I am going to pick up soon are in "good" conditions, do not look positive on this.

Wow that could be the best Masterpiece so far. the Hasbro version will not have a trailer so it is Masterpiece Hot Rod only.

    Ugh.

Three hours later. Still can't get it into car or truck mode....at least not where it looks like it's supposed to. Forget about having all four wheels align on this thing...no way in hell it'll ever be able to roll. Not only that, but his freaking FACE is the lowest point on the toy....to roll it you're scraping his face along the ground and four tires going different directions!

I'd the worst design flaw is the arms. They simply can't align with the toy....the chrome pipes are a total mess. No wonder they never looked straight at toy shows....they CAN'T go straight! His hands fold up into this big jumble that gets in the way of everything.

Paint rubs and stress marks all over. Red paint from the trailer rubbed all over the yellow wings from trying to get it in the trailer.

I'm crestfallen. I honestly don't even want this POS in my house.

Hey onnsake, sorry to hear about your bad experience with this figure. :/

Do you own any other MP? If you do, did you have any similar problem with them?

It's abt the problems encountered by member onnsake. he experienced bad QC issues with his own set.

Well to be fair, regarding all those parts, pegs or whatever you may wanna call it, they do fit into place VERY tightly, it takes a lot of finagling & fiddling around in between those parts. Sometimes the fit is just so precise, a minor misalignment & everything will be a mess.

For the complex transformation junkies who bemoaned that the MP line has become simplistic with the recent MP-Grimlock, well this this will be their biggest challenge. It has a very complex & intricate transformation. A return to form for the Masterpiece line.

Awesome dude. I'm heading to Shulin now to see if the guy there has one yet.

And yeah, including Recon Ravage as a bonus is a pretty good way to make people not want to buy it! :D

Yeah i gotta agree. Apreciate the effort to post up n share news but a feedback thread should have...actual feedback. You have to actually recomend whether its a good or bad toy at least. Its not like this toys been lacking preview pics too.

What about with G1 galvatron?!?! Below are some pictures I took with my vintage one and with this Rodimus...I am most satisfied because its "cartoon accurate" in terms of scale!!! :D

Was there a MP-09 thread on this board? I couldn't find it? What were the QC flaws? My only complaints from bot mode are some nub marks which are minor IMO.

With regards, to complex transformations being a hallmark/gimmick of the masterpiece series - I'm not so "hard up" on it. To me as long as the design of the bot and alternate mode looks decent and the final product in terms of materials use is decent, I'm fine with it.

I don't know how to say this but I don't know how to review a toy and I had actually no intention to pick up Master Piece Rodimus until the dealer offered it to me at a great price around USD$130-138 (depending on the exchange rate) that I bite the bullet...it was a "goodwill" offer! LOL!

Hmmm, for those who are fans of G1 and love Rodimus - I would say that the bot mode is fantastic but then again, I'm a easily pleased fan-boy. Especially since I've been waiting for a "leader sized" Rodimus Prime since 1986! :D

Alternate mode wise - I can't comment for now because I have no plans to transform him within the next few days.

Value for money...seriously, I won't have paid USD$200 or even USD$180 for me. Its not because he isn't worth it but rather with that amount of cash, one can buy other TF stuff like Universe etc. Comparing him to Bandai's SOC series, he's lighter (lack of diecast)....so fans who are collecting SOC may be disappointed in the lack of heft.

My conclusion - pick him up only if you're a die-hard G1 fanboy because this toy literally screams of "fan service".

Hot Rod comparison with G1 Galvatron (front). I know...Galvatron has seen better days but I still treasure him...I had such "great" battles with him in the 80s...I won't throw him despite having the reissues.

Rodimus Prime comparison with G1 Galvatron - note that Rodimus is slightly taller with not the same height as Galvatron. This is due to "extending" the legs when converting Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime.

Well I transformed him a second time today & suffice to say the overall experience kinda reminds me of.....MP-05 Megs!

Not as nerve wracking but there were few tense moments lol :D
