That is a GREAT price, I have actually seen that figure go for up to $500 on ebay . That said, under item desciption,

That kind of confused me. The V1 is the first release that had most of the QC issues (Back piece not locking in, knee plates falling/breaking off, ect) The V2 is the version that came out a year later that fixed all of those issues. So for seller to advertise a "V1 with factory fixed issues" is kind of contradicting.

The fact that the seller has four of these and they're all loose, and that remark in the description, all lead me to believe this is some kind of a "back door" release.

That's what I thought, but given the variable QC in the official release I thought this was worth a shot. Time will tell.

So I finally found a good deal on a loose version of this guy.

I almost had a heart attack transforming him thinking every piece would break.

Not as bad as megatron... But close

Mine had the trunk pice on backwards and a piece of his gun fell off. Both items were able to be fixed so I am happy.

I have to say though when he is in his full truck mode he looks FANTASTIC!!!

Does any one have the book he came with scanned ?

So how does one know which version of the Takara Rodimus they have? I just received my MIB one and I have attempted to transform it due to being scared of breaking it. The original owner states that he transformed it a couple of times and I have carefully looked over all the pins and ratchets to make sure there was no stress on anything and I think j lucked out. But it would make me feel better if I knew for certain which version I had

I sold mine off because I simply did not like the figure. I love me some Hot Rod, but this figure just didn't do it for me.

I lucked out and got one with NO QC issues - I got a Hasbro one at a TRU and he was perfectly fine, but transforming him? Almost nothing tabbed in, and that aggravated the hell out of me. I just didn't like it.

v1 and v2 have different dates on the box. I'm not by my collection now - I'll have to take a look later. As far as the figures go, v1's backpack generally doesn't stay tabbed in and the leg panels are a little loser and more prone to breakage. I believe v2's leg panels are designed to pop off to prevent breakage. V2's backpack stays tabbed, but the backpack hinge is prone to breakage. I've got v1, btw. It's floppy in the chest and backpack, but no breakage so far.

I'm a bit late to the party with this but I've just got a set of these for my 9B and I highly recommend them over the metal ones. The additional springs are the perfect solution and you wouldn't know they weren't the original joints either.

Do they make replacement parts for the regular version of Rodimus? If so, what parts do they make? Is there one for the backpack to help it clip in better and any links?

Where do they offer the turquoise knee replacements? I have the black ones but I would rather have ones that match the original look of the figure.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the original Rodimus doesn't have knee problems.

The right arm of my Rodimus just fell off (like an apple from a tree). I have transformed it only once to check for QC three weeks ago when I first bought it.

I read about fragility but I didn't realize that the arm could just fall off like that. I hope I can fix with one of those shoulder replacements, but this was really disappointing. This makes the floppy waist of Thrust almost negligible.

Picked up this guy from the "MP-09 Rebuild" Facebook page. Was skeptical at first but saw a video review that convinced me to give it a go. First off, price-wise $145 shipped is pretty bloody good for MP-09, in any state.
    Second, the fixes:
    -Redesigned tabs on back wheels
    -Corrected mis-assembled ankle joints
-Repaired backpack hinge to allow roof tab smoothly for alt mode
    -Tighten spoiler
-Improved tabs on arms, exhaust pipes, and lower legs
-Installed customized solid elbow and knee joints
-Adjusted springs in ratchet joints if too tight
-Other flaws and quality control issues
Having never owned this figure, I'm not familiar with all his issues, but this seems to address a bunch of them?
Payment was through Paypal, so figured I had nothing to lose. He arrived today and I gotta say, it was an accurate listing. The figure is solid, I transformed from car, to winnebago to robot mode. No sign of stress or breakage, everything is still intact. The ankles are tight and hold well, shoulders seem fine. Some of the tabs still seem a little fragile (those on the back of the canopy that clip into the calves are still pretty thin where they connect to the canopy, and the little armatures on his shin guards seem a little tight, though I'm not seeing stress marks. All told he definitely seems like an improvement, I'd not be too scared transforming him, and I think this is probably about what the figure SHOULD have been to start with.
The negative though is that he kind of continues the run of MP Hot Rodimi that just don't quite cut it.
My first was DX-9's Carry. He's still my favourite. Amazingly solid and dense, holding him in one hand and MP-09 in the other it's like night and day. A fun transformation, such dense and durable plastic, so dynamic and posable. Unfortunately he's just not G1 enough. I thought I could handle that, and at first I could, but as time goes by, he just seems more and more out of place in an MP collection. This is 100% NOT a mark against Carry - he never was intended as G1 and I bought him knowing that. It's just grown to be a problem... kind of an "it's not you it's me" kind of thing. Throw in the teeny tiny alt mode and he's a bit of a disappointment. But you always remember your first with a certain fondness.
Next came MP-2...whatever...28 I think? The numbers start to blur after a while. This was the official. A new, in scale Hot Rod, to address the issues with MP-09. And what a disappointment. From the sandwich board chest, to the skinny legs, he was never going to quite cut it for me. They replaced the too-small matrix from MP-09 - with an MP-10 sized space, in an MP-12-and-a-bit sized bot, that left him with a ridiculously flat chest, and a distorted swimmers build. Aside from the colour, the cues to the toon where few and far between, and this in the middle of the supposed toon-centric relaunch of the line. And then the chrome started flaking, even after a thick coat of Future. And to this day, I've never been able to get him to roll. So sad.
I've avoided MP-09 for a long time, the known QC issues combining with the awkward, too skinny sculpt to warn me off. But I saw the rebuild deal, I had a few bucks to spare, and I thought "what the hell?" It's a piece of history, the dividing line between old MP and the new line. This guy is definitely solid enough to be an MP, thanks to the fixes. But he's still just an awkward, kind of clumsy looking figure. The tiny skinny hands, the big one-piece crotch flap, the overlarge canopy windows peeking round his lats. He's ok I guess, but next to the dynamic pizzazz of Carry, and for all his G1'ness, there's still something lacking. He looks amazing in both alt modes, I actually really like the Prime trailer transformation, it's a clever way to do it. Hot Rod bot mode is of course, a joke, but it always has been. That sports car though... very slick. Rodimus mode is what I wanted him for, but sadly, he's just not quite there.
I'm already primed to jump on FansToys Hot Rod, the aptly named Hoodlum. In case you missed it, I have zero issue with having 3P's in my collection, I just want the best looking, and to me, there's no doubt that Hoodlum fixes the serious torso issues of the original. He just looks more like the toon, particularly the only Transformers movie that counts, the '86 one. And I know from experience with FT that he'll be solid, and dense and free from QC trouble. That will, hopefully tick the Hot Rod box. Here's hoping that FT decide to do a Rodimus to match that Hoodlum - a hardened criminal to go alongside their juvenile delinquent. Failing that, I still pray that Takara will one day give us a new MP Rodimus, one that utilises their new engineering and design expertise to blow MP-09 out of the water.
As it stands I now have three magenta and orange sports car/winnebago's in my MP collection, and none of them is quite right. Still, I'm kind of pleased to have MP-09. Like I said, he's a piece of history and the price was worth it for an awesome sports car, a cool looking winnebago, and a so-so Rodimus.

Is this guy still active? Willing to pay the price for a consistent Rodimus Prime. Seems like he’s legit. Thoughts?

Not sure whether it's still available - got it through a Facebook page. If you can track it down and you are interested in the look of MP-09 then I'd definitely recommend. It's still a relatively fragile figure but it's vastly improved on the stock version.
