Any chance of getting some comparison pics with masterpiece grimlock or starscream? still having trouble gauging just how big this guy is, seems like hes bigger than them.

After much fiddling with his alt mode, I'm finally satisfied that all the parts are aligned properly.

    He's a real finicky bastard.

Question: Could it be possible for MP Rodimus to hold the BIS Matrix? (Or any of it's reuses)

    I really can't wait for mine! :D

He looks awesome. Is the difference between Hot Rod and Rodimus robot modes really noticeable as I'd like to have one in each different 'bot form, but I'm not sure if it's worth it…

There really is nothing different in the robot mode other than the face. The "height difference" is so little it's not really noticeable. Same with the wing folding in. It's such small changes they are almost imperceptible. If they were standing next to each other on the shelf the face would be the only difference you'd see.

I got him back out today, and a lot of the venom I was feeling yesterday subsided. I still can't get the arms aligned correctly in car mode. And it's fragile and finicky as all hell. The truck mode, which is my favorite part of the old toy, doesn't look very good. But the robot LOOKS good...just don't touch it!!

The two most important little clips on the entire two....the little tabs that snap the whole hood of the car into the legs, are stressed and WHITE already. Just a matter of time before they snap off. So what do I do? Never transform the toy I paid $200 bucks for? Leave it as a robot forever? That's really unfair to the customer.

I took some cell phone pics....sorry they are small...not sure how well you can see...but just wanted to share...

Onnsake - I feel your pain. Years ago I bought one of those Toynami Macross jets and I was so disappointed in it that I almost immediately packed it up in the box.

May I know what the 2 important clips you are referring to?

I read about your problems and thankfully mine doesn't have that problem. The joints are tight and my Rodimus can stand properly. My only complaint is that the margin for error is transforming the toy is crazy! I mis-aligned the toy while fitting in the trailer and my "wing" got scratched!

I expected "more" from this toy and I won't have paid $200 for this.

IMO the best Master piece of is still Grimlock - good to look at and transformation is decent. Grimlock is a right balance of looking nice in both modes and a straight forward transformation.

Optimus would have been No. 1 but he's too top heavy and the worse is Megatron.

The wing on mine is all scratched up and RED too! You really have to cram it into the trailer and I sit there cringing as I feel it scrrraaaape its way in.

I highlighted the clips on the back I'm talking about. Mine had a white stress line since the first transformation.

Also, included a larger shot of Rodimus next to the KING.

I was looking forward to getting this figure but ima wait another week to read more feedback. He looks great in robot mode but the scratches being reported when getting him into space winnebago mode is dissapointing.

I'm having the same problems with the scratched spoiler wing from putting it into the trailer (there doesn't seem to be enough clearance in the slot) and the white stress marks on the clips. I'm actually hesitant about ever transforming it into trailer mode again. Doing that put dings on the black leg coverings on mine.

It almost feels as if they rushed this figure into production without doing test runs to resolve the fit and tolerance issues present on the figure. A real pity, since this figure would have been absolutely great without these annoying problems.

after watching that video i wonder if some people just lack the patience and/or "finesse" to make sure they align everything properly

it IS a masterpiece afterall. not some chunky mass retail action figure for ages 6 and up that you can just swing into form in 2 seconds. thats why i like figs like MP Megatron, MP Starscream, and heck even ROTF Prime. I find the challenge and complexity to be the fun part about the toys now that i dont "play" with them

anyways, all the negatives still havent swayed me. soon as i have enough i'm gettin this bad boy

See like after pushing the car into the trailer, the stressmark is inevitable! That is not something very good to hear about for a $200 toy..

I keep hearing a lot of Fxxk word in the youtube review of this item, believe the uploader is also quite upset with it. I will be extremely careful with I get mine tomorrow.

On second thought, I'ma go hug my Protector armor and Classic's Hot Rod and write Hasbro a thank you letter for bringing a cheaper version of MP Hot Rod stateside.

Ordered mine yesterday on Ebay and he's getting shipped tomorrow. Will hopefully have him by the end of the week. Sorry to hear that a lot of people are having some issues with this figure. I geuss it's good to know what to look out for. I''m definitely going to be taking my sweet time transforming him the first few times. I am concerned about the clearance on the undercarrige and that he doesn't roll due to excess robot junk under there. Maybe it's a case of things not being properly aligned when transformed.

I remember when I got masterpiece Megatron there was an issue in gun mode where you had to force his forearm and upper arm until there was a click. If you didn't then the whole area around the hammer of the gun didn't line up. People were bemoaning it saying it was crap until some video reviewers showed people what they were missing. Maybe there will be some trick to it that people haven't come accross yet. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more video review. Here's hoping :)

OK....I've been messing with this guy for more hours and I'm now ready to take back MOST of what I said in my earlier posts.

FINALLY got the arms properly aligned in car mode and it made a huge difference...the car LOOKS great. BUT....there is no way this thing was ever designed to actually roll. Not only are the four tires not lined up, but the crotch plate and the head are the lowest points under the car. The front tires can't even touch the surface it's on. And there is really no way fix it other than ripping off the crotch and head and I'm not gonna do that!

As for the truck mode, it's still a nightmare squeezing it into that tiny space. It's clear to me now that the car and robot were the real focal points of the design, and truck mode is more like a bonus. But it's cool....just a giant version of the original trailer. Especially when all opened up, the battle station is really really nice actually.

OK.....it's NOT a total POS like I said yesterday. Still a LOT of flaws...not perfect. But the more I fiddle with it, I'm getting things to line up properly and it makes a huge difference. If anyone has figured out a way to get all four tires on the ground so it can clear the head and crotch, I'd like to know!

Is there no way of lowering the wheels. I've seen in some videos that the wheels have suspension or at the very least they can be pushed up into the wheel arches. I hope that's the case. If not that is pretty disapointing. I'll probably display him in robot mode on the battle station but it's strange Takara couldn't get something like that right. Good to read that you're opinion of it has improved. I know that no transformer is perfect but I was worried this was going to be diabolical.

The rear wheels push into the wheel well for bot mode and pull out for alt mode. There's still little clearance after doing that. You'll need a bit of fiddling with the alt mode to get all 4 wheels to touch the ground and even then, the clearance between the head, crotchpiece and the ground is paper thin. Not really one for rolling around in alt mode.

So no off road shenanegans for Hot Rod :(

    I kid, I kid :)

But seriously, it's a bit underwhelming. I'm sure the overall awesomeness of the figure will make up for this one oversight.
