A pity he doesn't have individually articulated index fingers to recreate the "this is the end of the road..." pose.

@Type-R: Ironically (see avatar) I hadn't thought about that before. I don't really like the way the hands look overall actually. But that's a very small con to me.

People pointing out the flaws with the figure. Alot of cons from those who have him, and not seeming 100% satisfied with the final product.

Huh what kinda bashing? from what I see, the majority who have it alrdy, have given their objective POV abt the toy (with the exception of onnsake & alexcollier, who unfortunately have gotten pieces with bad QC issues).

That said it's not a perfect figure but I still think it's an amazing piece of work. Taktomy & Hasbro really put much thought into the making of the toy.

Megaroptimus@ Dude sorry for not replyin' to yr earlier query. As far as I can tell the die-cast content is very minimal. It's mostly concentrated on his feet.

.... ok, retract bashing. Add not 100% pleased with $200 figure. Either way, the 3 pics I commented on are the best thing going so far in this thread. Didn't mean to get people focused on that one word.

As long as one treats it more as a collectible rather than a toy than you're fine. After transforming and fiddling a few times, here are my thoughts:

    Pros:

    i) Amazing sculpt - this figure really resembles Rodimus Prime

ii) Transformation - very involved and one must be extremely careful

    Cons:

    i) Hand design - thumb is too close to the palm making it difficult to get a grip on the gun. It is possible to get a good grip but it can be quite difficult.

ii) Prone to scratches especially when combining with trailer

iii) Transformation gimmick. At times, I feel it is overly and unnecessarily complex. A complex transformation doesn't necessary make it a "masterpiece" but rather the details and gimmick.

I will probably pick up the Hasbro version because I believe the fins won't be "matte" yellow - less obvious of scratches! X)

Golden Age - I agree with your comment on the transformation issue.

Seeker - yup, Galvatron is around 11 inches - definitely shorter than 12 inches.

Just in case people are curious..there are some video reviews of it up on Youtube. Not sure if its ok to post links since there is cursing involved.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the hands either. The look, the articulation, the grip (for weapons) and storage in alt mode just seem pretty unsatisfactory. On the plus side, he does a good job holding onto Prime's matrix for all the cool "Arise Rodimus Prime" and "Light our darkest hour" poses.

For all those who also have MP-9 in hand, is anyone able to get all 4 wheels on Hot Rod's vehicle mode to touch the ground and roll smoothly? The crotchplate seems to get in the way. And before anyone suggests this, yes, I did pull out and lower the rear wheels.

Robotadventures on Youtube has several short vids up for MP Rodimus! Dunno if it'd be spammy to stack them all in here, so I'ma just put in the link to his channel.

Just a quick run down on the issues Alex has with his MP-9 and what I've experienced on mine.

Not experienced any problem with the feet.

Yup. Mine had this issue too. Doesn't clip in at all. Maybe the backpack needs to be aligned a certain way to get it to work. Could be a tolerance issue. No flopping on mine. It all holds together even without the clip so it's not that big an issue for me.

The guns don't hold tightly in the hands but they do peg in. The fingers though, can't wrap around the handles fully. Slight wriggles will loosen the guns out of the hands.

The only problem I have with this is paint scraping. I'm not sure if it's paint scraping off the spoiler or paint scraping off the trailer slot onto the spoiler but it's a tight fit getting the spoiler in.

No worries for me here. There are some paint scratches around the hinge of the windscreen and hood but it doesn't bother me.

Same issue for me. Might have something to do with getting the hand in the right configuration to fit into the arm.

Have not had this happen on mine.

Some other minor nitpicks I have:
    1) One of the arms doesn't peg in nicely in alt mode. There's a clip on the inside of the cabin that holds onto the inner part of the arm. Needs quite a bit of coaxing and "massaging" to get it to hold.

    2) Not all 4 wheels can touch the ground and roll smoothly. The tip of the crotchplate sits to low on the underside, as does the head. They seem to prevent one front wheel (sometimes both) from touching the ground.

    3) Visor droops easily over the Hot Rod face. No problems when the Rodimus face is on.

Sweet pic! It works for me until a MP version gets made.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm hoping he says either Soundwave, Shockwave, or Galvatron.

Type-R bro yes I've had this same 'not rolling on the floor problem' too.

It was very frustrating initially, just when you thought you had everything all figured out, all parts line-up, the car mode looking good & then when you try to roll it over on the ground...something's bulging & the car is tilted halfway & not moving smoothly. :banghead:

But it's just a case of minor mistransformation, finicky stuff. all you need to do is adjust the front part of the car & use gentle force, lower it down a bit more. now it rolls just fine for me.

I don't have a problem with the difficult transformation....my frustration comes from the bad QC or the materials used that make that transformation impossible!!

Obviously this was a well-engineered toy, but somewhere in the manufacturing process, something must have gone wrong. The parts simply don't align in car or truck mode. Trying to get his arms in properly is impossible, at least on my sample.

And when I finally have something resembling a car, all four wheels are pointed in different directions with some making contact with the ground and some floating in the air. Not to mention his HEAD scraping along the ground underneath him!

I understand this is an adult collector toy. I AM an adult collector and I paid a lot of hard-earned cash for this thing! But I didn't want a statue, or a fragile figure....I paid for a TRANSFORMER and Transformers are supposed to work!

In robot mode, I think he looks fine. The face switching feature doesn't work very smoothly on mine either. Did I just get a bum figure here? The visor tends to flop down Hot Rod's face a lot. The chest pegs into the back on this tiny little two-pronged black clip, but there's no force on earth that can keep that chest from flopping around every time you touch the figure.

And that grey clip....is that supposed to hold the back in tighter? Cause it's a real stretch for it to even connect to the little tabs, so I didn't even try it....the whole thing is so fragile.

I was so let down by it I just re-boxed it all up last night. Didn't even want to look at it. But I'll take him back out today and give it another try.
