I really love the way this figure looks. Such a shame about all the QC issues. I ended up cancelling my AmiAmi preorder. I figure the over $200 price tag, coupled with all these QC issues will make him a tough sell. So hopefully, I can pick him up later when he's on sale from BBTS(like I did with MP-04).

You'll need something thinner than a Q-tip, but yeah, I think just removing the paint from the inside of the slot on the trailer would solve the problem completely.

Absolutely! Don't let the minor negatives sway you...and really, they are pretty minor in the grand experience of the toy. On my 2nd transformation, I was able to align everything perfectly the first time.

If you're happy with MP Megatron and the Seekers, despite their numerous flaws, you'll be happy with Rodimus.

    Haha, thanks!

No problem! I've been messing with him for about 4 hrs now, and I just like him more and more. He's everything I expect out of an MP figure!

Isn't EVERY MP really in a scale of its own? Prime and Megatron are the same height, but really , thats it.

I agree on the pros - IMO he is the best looking TF toy ever in the history of TF toy collecting. The Hot Rod/Rodimus face sculpt, proportion is amazing! He's overall design with the "wings" is very nice! Too bad, he had "big shoes" (Optimus Prime) to feel because the Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime design is very nice.

Other than the wing/spoiler issue my Rodimus seems fine. Mine could even hold his guns well - abeit with "adjustments".

From Jarrod's description, its seems that the main problem could be the "paint" application process for the either the trailer or the fin - either parts had either too much paint I guess?

The reason why I've been rather vocal is because the only reason why anyone would pay a higher price for this set is simply for Rodimus Prime. It defeats the purpose of the one can transform into his alternate mode.

If TakaraTomy resolve the issues on the spoiler, I will pick up a 2nd piece but only if the price is right as $200 is too rich for my blood and a big gamble to get an unsightly scratch! X)

But to be cartoon accurate, Grimlock and Prime would need to switch sizes. I think MP's were more designed with alt mode in mind. Megatron the exception cause he'd be no bigger that a deluxe class.

IMO when TakaraTomy started the MP line with Optimus they were testing the waters and while the scale turned up rather nice, I believe they had to scale down the figures - probably due to cost and popularity i.e. seekers and Grimlock.

Personally, I find the MP line should be at least Rodimus Prime's height. Not too tall, not too short. I hope when MP Galvatron (if released) will be the same height as Rodimus!

I'm pretty disturbed by the people in this thread who are defending the(apparently) finicky nature of this piece by saying "well it's a collector's piece and not a toy". I for one would be much more apt to forgive flaws such as those described in this thread in a toy that cost $20 or less. For a piece in the $200 range however I have a hard time not having higher expectations. I think the masterpiece line should definitely be held to a higher standard not only in design but in execution as well.

I'm with you on that one. I display MP Prime and Megs together by themselves anyway, so I'll probably end up doing the same with MP Rodimus and Galvatron.

I'm not canceling. It's sitting in my POL. I hope it's good, I really do, but if not, I can buy the Hasbro version to work with the trailer if nothing else.

God damn. I am vacillating. I was so looking forward to this. But I am so fucking anal retentive with my toys that the paint being scratched off of the spoiler when you put it into Winnebago mode may be a deal breaker. That's kinda the whole point of buying this vs. the Hasbro version when it becomes available, to have the four modes.

I'm wondering if they will fix this with the next run of the toy, much like Grimlock. Of course, I got the 1st run of Grimlock and it was easily fixable with some scotch tape over the screws. In that case, I would be inclined to wait.

    AHHHHHHHHHH! I'M STILL VACILLATING!

Jarrod, you may not have two left arm exhaust pipes. The pipes rotate at the separation near the hinge. I say "may" because it does look like there's a difference in the way they slant at the end.

Does it have rubber tires or are they plastic? Is it also true that the front wheels don't turn?

The tires are rubber and the wheels do turn. Only problem is, it's a little difficult to get the alt mode parts aligned just right such that the front wheels touch the ground. Even when they do, there isn't much clearance between the crotchplate and head (which hang off the bottom of the car) to allow them to roll freely.

Nah, he's definitely got 2 of the same pieces, because the other side has a peg to clip on the side of the car.

The front wheels rotate but in a manner similar to Animated Blurr i think? The hubcap is stationary while the wheel rotates around it, so it doesn't roll that well.

Ah alright. Was hoping I could be someone's hero today but alas. :p

But even so, wouldn't rotating them around at least help them look a little more lined up?

Late to the thread but while I wait for mine to arrive in the mail, is there any way to prevent the paint scratching off the spoiler when putting him into the trailer?

Perhaps some scotch tape over whatever's causing the scratching like the solution for the first run of MP Grimlock?
