I don't have the figure yet, but after reading all of the comments and watching some videos, I'm afraid this is similar to the nightmare of MP-05 Megatron. However, I have this feeling that there are tips and tricks to better align the joints during transformation than the instructions provide (like RA's knee joint trick). My only thought with the spoiler is whether it makes a difference if the spoiler is angled like Rodimus' robot mode when it is assembled into the trailer. Would that avoid any chipping/scraping? Is it even possible?

I'm praying some savvy people will come up with some nice intermediate instruction steps that help avoid 'some' of these clearance and transformation issues.

Maybe some nice third party people will make a new spoiler.

I'm starting to think this will be my second MISB piece in my collection. the first MISB is a dupe of one I have loose, I'm not a fan of leaving them caged. May have to get the Hasbro one to have fun with. :banghead:

This thread has just reminded me I have never transformed MP-05 and I've had it since it was released. Weird.

!. How much metal content is there?
    2. Does the same matrix that Masterpiece Optimus Prime has fits into masterpiece Rodimus Prime?

I'm actually really dissapointed to hear Rodimus isn't as much a masterpiece as he looked. This was the only masterpiece figure I've been looking forward to. I would've happily paid $200 if these issues didn't exist.

I guess I'll just get the Hasbro one if any of the issues are fixed, and if they aren't I'll just skip him all together.

I would like to see what Generations Thunderwing can do with that Matrix. Can he hold it? Does it fit in his chest?

    1. Only in the feet, if you're not counting screws.

    2. MP-1 matrix does not fit in MP-9's chest cavity. He has his own scaled down matrix for that. The MP-1 matrix is scaled just right for MP-9's hands to hold for the various "Arise Rodimus Prime" and "Light our darkest hour" poses. The small MP-9 matrix only fits into his palm.

For a moment you got my hopes up! LOL! DOn't put the car into the trailer - its almost guaranteed to scratch the wings/fin.

Batman - to be fair to the toy, it can still still transform abeit only as Hot Rod's alternate mode.

Split Lip - yeah, I was actually thinking of picking up 2 of him - soley because I'm a big fan of Rodimus Prime and other than the frigging wing problem, the toy really is well engineered...aside from QC problems.

    This^

From what I've seen tho...Rodimus is a bit taller than MP Grimlock...which would make him uncomfortably taller than PP01.

Got my Rodimus from AmiAmi today! Im both very impressed, and midly dissappointed with him.

First off though, theres a really easy solution to holding the guns. Just don't bend the fingers at the first knuckle/palm, only the second knuckle. Yeah, this means his fingers dont really wrap around the handle, but the gun stays in very securely!

    Pros:
-Looks exactly like Rodimus, proportions are perfect, face sculpts are amazing.
    -Fantastic articulation!
    -Colors are great.
-Size is near perfect, in my opinion. Winnebago mode is WAY bigger than I expected.
-Transformation from Hot Rod to car, while finnicky in a spot or two, is involved and satisfying
-Just the right amount of Accesories/Gimmicks. They google deployment is simple and clever.
-"Backpack" looks far less obvious in person. All those panels fold up pretty damn tight.
-Joints are all nice, sturdy ratchets.

    Cons:
Well, pretty much what's already been mentioned:
    -Chest clip is loose
-Paint rub on Spoiler. Although on mine at least, there's no scraping, but rather the orange paint from the trailer is rubbing off onto the yellow. And its MUCH more minor than I expected, like little spots I'd almost expect to find on flat paint from normal wear.
-I would have like some more height added for Rodimus' transformation, but that's pretty minor
-Transformation. (yep I know this was a pro too:) ) Getting the leg panels and feet to line up JUST right in vehicle mode can be annoying, and if the feet are just pefect, the hip panel sit down too far, and the wheels won't touch the ground. Its alot like MP Megatron where you really have to massage things into place.
-Mine came with two left arm exhaust pipes, so the right arm has an upside down set, and they do NOT line up in vehicle mode. This right here is my only real true complaint. Everything I chalk up to minor issues that pretty much every MP figure has, but an actual factory misassembly is pretty unforgivable to me.

Overall, I'm still incredibly happy to have him, and don't really feel like I wasted any money. It really is the most perfect rendition of Hot Rod/imus Prime we could get.

And since its been asked numerouse times, comparison pics below :)

My sentiments are pretty similar to Jarrod's. The Pros definitely outweigh the cons, and there aren't enough people talking about them in this thread! My first time transforming to car, 3 wheels were on the ground and the fourth was 2mm off - there is clearance if you do it right as well. You should expect a high end toy to require careful parts alignment. Perhaps Grimlock, who has a more forgiving Transformation has softened some of you! I feel sorry for people who cancelled their preorder - you're missing out on one of the best looking toys of recent years, with so much attention to detail across the board.

The spoiler clearly has some issues though - just lining it up alongside the slit on the trailer, i could see it wasn't going to fit so didn't bother trying.

I don't think the hands are misassembled at all - on mine, i can slot the gun in perfectly fine and it stays quite tightly (i was transforming him without realising the gun was still attached until i physically knocked it off). If you try and close his grip too much though, that will squeeze it out. Perhaps it could have been designed better, but considering articulated hands are needed for transformation - a posed hand wouldn't have worked - and if you have played with a Macross toy, half the time their guns don't stick either (or have stocks that can't sit above the forearm ... like G1 Prime!)
