I didn't like this figure based on just the pics and so on,(I wanted the futuristic El Camino look) but I got him anyway. I am glad I did! The pics don't do Kup justice. After transforming/posing him a few times, he has became one of my favorites.
his huge arm panels that get in the way are the ONLY negative I have about him. His head is even better in person. Would have preferred a neutral expression, but oh well.
^ Yes, absolutely it is. I have grown a little tired of the Movie-esque skeletal designs. Don't get me wrong, some of them are fantastic but, the robot modes are too...skinny for lack of a better word. Car/jet/whatever parts wrapped/slapped on a skeleton. Classics fills that void with the modern day update to your favorite characters. Chunky is good, reall good. We don't want no stinking skinny robits!!!1!
Just got him and Scourge. Kup was a bit of a let down. I don't mind the big feet, but the arms bug me, and for some reason, Kup has a bobble head. It just wobbles and spins. Any ideas on fixes?
Look back a few pages for more details, but Kups head tends to come off it's balljoint. But due to the build, it doesn't actually come off, just stays in the recess. press your thumb down on his face and push it in a few different directions, dont turn, push, and it will probably pop in place.
Actually, I've found pushing on the back of Kup's head gets it to snap on right away. Due to the direction the ball fits into the socket... on mine at least. The only issue is holding his chest from rotating (back into truck mode placement) while doing so... which is no issue at all.
I finally found Kup yesterday! I'm pretty excited, as kup is one of my favorite characters and I have been waiting years for this. Vehicle mode is nice, and pretty fitting for the character. I like how his weapon can be a tailpipe, or mount on top. Transformation is pretty clever and looks harder than it actually is. Robot mode is a nice update to the character, with the minor flaws of the door panel arms and wheel shoulders. But he is awesome. Good posability, nice weapon, pretty spot on paintaps for the character. And I just love the little "winsheild" in front of his head. A nice nod to the comics. I had the bobblehead issue, but its fixed now thanks to this thread. If you like kup, then you need this toy. If you don't care about the character, then pass, but if your just looking for something new-he's funn to mess around with.
Opened this guy up this evening. I am overall impressed. A worthy update to this character. The only issues I have, is going back into alt mode. That damn chest-springy-device is a pain. I almost don't have enough fingers to hold it all seperated while trying to flip the chest around.
If its just a ball joint, a dab of translucent nail polish can help ya. Just apply a dab on the joint, let it dry and you're done.
There's a mention of this issue earlier in this thread. If you push the flap into the chest a bit and push the back of the head with your finger, it should snap the head back into place. It seems to pop out of the ball joint hole if pushed back too far. Just be careful when doing it. It feels like it wants to break, but it gives and snaps into place.
This. Got my united kup in and I am happy as hell with it. This mold is very nice and is a fantastic figure.
Kup is a blast from the past. I never was a fan of the autobots introduced by the 86 movie, but he'll look great battling against scourge and cyclonus.
I was trying to figure out why Kup's head bugged me so much and I think I figured it out. I dont have him in hand yet but when I get him I'll definitely be adding paint to make his head look a little more screen accurrate. Right now it's nothing but a weird green color. His head or dome is supposed to be a lighter color than the rest of his head along with the square on his forehead. Will definitely be painting him different when I get him.
It'll be cool to see a visual of how to keep Kup's head from becoming bobbleheadish (made up word there). I don't its been written down alot, but to me a visual makes a difference.
Actually the round part of his head is a lighter color than the 'crown' part. It's subtle, probably difficult to see in most light
