Grimstone is so full of badassness, that not even Predaking can touch him. He bitch-slapped him and stole his Sword. ...So Badass in fact, that he Demanded I take another photo.
Dinopope Grimstone the first has come to spread the word of Primus! Heis an awesome figure and my fave PCC combiner team to date, in all fairness my only other team is Double clutch and the rally bots UGH
Man this guy looks so awesome. But I can't break my rule. I just can't spend 20 bucks on a guy without elbow articulation. Last time I did it I was so dissappointed. Here's to hoping Hasbro includes some in their future releases.
I got this asspile of a TF a few days ago. Kibble-city, floppier than a greased pancake, his joints won't even let him stand in his normal robot mode, and he falls over easier than Cybertron Galvatron. Plus he is uglier than Steven Wright. A complete failure on all levels. I agree, the shiniest turd is still a turd...
Agreed. I was hoping all the praise would be real and deserved, but alas, PCC's disappoint yet again. Floppy joints, pop-off appendages and overall aesthetic hell make this a fail in my book. Unfortunately, my gf crunched up the packaging before I could re-pack it to take back. Crap. From now on, the only PCC's I'll get are the jet and tank coming out. Mainly, because I like the looks of them. I'll probably even cut off the PCC parts just to separate them from the line.
Bought it earlier today. Not a bad figure by any means. The legs do have a bit of trouble as others have stated. Would have been nice to get some sort of arm articulation. Suppose it has more to do with the execution. Overall $11 pretty well spent. Yeah turns out it did not want to ring up. The women called an employee from the toy department punched in a few keys and came up a little cheaper then the sale price.
Bought one today and right after I get home & open him up I notice the right side of his face in combined mode is missing gold paint Aside from that I love him, though I may try to exchange it for another later in the week.
One thing I wish they would change with the PCC's is the bloody blue connection ports with colours that blend with the commanders various modes more as the blue is a real eyesore except for on ones like the protectobots set for example
Pros: * Grimstone has a nifty Styracosaur-ish mode, and the dino-drones aren't bad either. Dino modes have enough 'life' to them it doesn't seem so bad their only other mode is a limb. * The gray/red/black/silver/gold color scheme on all of them make them great G1 Dinobot homages. Also the shared color for all parts of the team make the combined form look almost like one toy, rather than five parts, though that might not be to everyone's taste. * Dinopope! Cons: * Each dino-drone limb is kinda wonky and/or strange and/or lame in its own way, and the automatic conversion on most works best when done partly or fully manually. * Grimstone's base robot mode looks OK, if a bit wide-hipped, but the kibble really gets in the way of moving his arms. * The connector joints that become the combiner's knees are pretty loose, not so loose that mine can't stand, but enough to be an issue. Also, the slots that lock down the front dino legs in combined mode are prone to stress marks. Notes: * The design of the parasaurolophus drone makes it look kinda ... buxom. * It's more apparent from the box art than the toy itself, but the dino frill on the combiner's chest makes a toothy skull-face, like something from Gaiking or Gurren Lagaan. Overall: My favorite modes are Dino-crew and combined Dino-pope, and I'm kind of indifferent to the smaller robot mode. Perhaps due to the Dinobot homage, I like this set a lot despite its flaws, probably more than it actually deserves.
Distribution for this guy seems to have skipped my area. Seriously, all the neighboring states have found him but no local sightings whatsoever. Gonna keep my preorder at BBTS...
I've had this guys for a while, never really though to take pics. I had to blow the dust off of him lol. Dinopope Blinged out and jacked up Grimstone is pretty weak on his own and the combined mode is the shit, if a bit fiddly and loose at the knees.
I got this guy a couple days ago and I fricking love him. Really like the look of all the individual dinosaurs, they are welcome additions to the original Dinobots. They definitely keep the same kind of style. Oh, and I like that they're a bit bigger than other PCC drones I have...just too bad the combined form doesn't result in a bigger robot mode. None of the negative points affect me really. I'm blinded by infatuation.
Tiny note: I got a second set of PCC Dinobots from HTS a while back (along with the Stunticons) and noticed the knee joints were a bit stiffer and less annoying than the first set I got. I'm not sure if it's a running improvement for the wave that ships with the Stunticons, or just general production variation, however.
I just got one yesterday and I've noticed pretty scary stressmarks on the red clip where the Pachycephalosaurus (the leg drone with the silver dome head) arms bar attaches. The marks are both sides of the rear part of the clip (where it's two clips), which is a very thin piece anyway. I ran superglue all around the inside of the clip and then cut thin slices of red plastic which I glued to the outside of the two smaller clips at the back. Hopefully they'll add some extra strength to the clip. If it does break it's such a small part that I might try and mill a replacement part out of metal or a stronger plastic or something and switch them over. It's such a bummer as I was really stoked with the figure but now I'm going to always be wary of moving those arms and it's taken a lot of the shine off the figure. If it wasn't for the fact I got it in a store really far from my home and it was the only one on offer I'd consider returning it for an exchange. Anyways, just warning people to watch out with theirs. Didn't see any mention of the problem in the thread but perhaps people have it and just haven't noticed it. I almost wish I'd not seen it and could carry on fully enjoying the figure worry-free and oblivious and it might never actually break.
Guess it was just me with the stressed clips then. Anyways, what this guy really needs is a sword: Pity the five-pack Commanders don't come with two small weapons for the Scout robot which can then combine into a larger one for Torso mode. Grimstone would've been cool with a pair of knives that could become a sword. Or that long silver tail on his arm come off and become a sword. Can you smell what the DinoPope's cooking?: The Papal People Eater.
