Or Ultla Magnus. I am feeling very embarrassed but I can also see how it went unnoticed so I am not laughing. I think it was more inexcusable when they had kanji typo with Diamond Black Megatron. But anyway....

Unlike previous Alternity releases, the outer packaging is not see-through. It is also made of cardboard (not plastic like the others).

The inner packaging is the same as other Convoy figures.

He does not come with the usual Tech Spec/Bio sheet but with an eHobby exclusive comic. I believe the comic wasn't included in the Magnus released at Shanghai event.

In vehicle mode, the different tone of white is not very bad in person. In my pics I think it is more evident because of the lighting. Overall the colour is nice pearly white. (Sorry about the front not lining up straight >_< )

(The smudge on the bonnet came off when I wiped it off.)

Compared to Starscream, the white on Magnus seems to have more depth.

In robot mode, his colour scheme is quite good and he doesn't look bland to me at all in person.

BUT mine has some blotchy looking eyes, though this might stand out because of the white face. I do recall Convoy Super Black had eyes like these, though his weren't this bad I think.

The bigger problem I have with the figure is the cylinder parts that connect his legs to his lower body that are really LOOSE.
He can't stand upright well at all, and this would have happened anyway even if he didn't have any back kibble.

Hope this is not a common problem :(

He does look nice and I am still happy with the purchase :)

Nice pictorial! Just wanted to chime in and say that the white parts definitely DO match up better to the eye. The camera, as it tends to, has a way of exaggerating the difference since light reflects different from the surfaces.

Also, regarding the leg issue, my own doesn't have that particular glitch, so don't take that as being universal.

Mine will hopefully arrive this week. Not a huge fan of the mould but I just need an Alternity after not "getting" (in many ways) the seekers.

In an ideal world the upcoming Classics Jazz will have the same head joint so I can create a nice Alternity Jazz. I'm not getting my hopes up though. I don't suppose the Classics Prowl head would fit in any way?

I like your photos but i'm not sure if i'll grab another Alternity Convoy. I already have Black, Red, and silver, plus grabbing another GOW2 set would be a pain.:cry

    It does look awesome....

^I don't have any weapons for my Alternity Convoys :(  I know it'd help those short arms look better....

For a second I imagined a trailer still left in the box :lol  Honestly I don't consider these white repaints as Ultra Magnus. Most of the time I get a white repaint to go with the black one, as I tend to skip the regular Optimus Prime colour. (Say, I don't have red Alternity Convoy.)

The white does look milky :lol  Compared to Orochi/Starscream's very flat looking white, this guy is simply beautiful.

I am afraid I don't own Classics Prowl. The Convoy head is tiny though, and it is connected to synchro-tech (automorph) gimmick so I am not sure if you can swap the head at all. I'd love Alternity Jazz, too :(

Yeah, not to hijack your thread but the guns really do improve the figures.

This figure actually looks extremely nice. He doesn't feel like a white repaint of Optimus Prime, which is really nice.

Somewhere down the line, if the funds allow it, I may pick this guy up.

^Yeah me, too. I think this will be the second white Prime repaint I'll keep!

That looks great :rock  I've only had a SW 3"75 figure weapon, but after seeing your pic and wanting something better, I tried those 1/6 katanas. They do look a bit oversize but that has to do with me. (pics will be in Cool Stuff thread)

Also, after applying a bit of super glue on the loose parts, my Magnus now can stand upright and pose much better :D

Well, I'm going to pick up Ultra Magnus locally monday (Couldn't resist) so I already ordered another GOW2 set from a guy on the forums. The bad news is Toy Arena sold out of GOW2 sets so now the price is starting to climb.

Alternity Prime needs this gun, does so much for the figure. NOW... I just hope Takara Tomy stops repainting this figure.... I love this mold a lot but no more.

Oh and where did you buy those swords? It looks fantastic

Seeing your pics, looks like that uneven gap in the front bumper is a problem with the mold. As I have it in the same place with my Black Convoy and noticed the box art was the same. I wouldn't mind it if both (left / right) bumpers had the same gaps but when it's uneven like that...that's really the only complaint I have about the toy.

It all depends on where you position the arms, the bumper is somewhat loose but you can take away the unevenness if you want. It never really bugged me that much, I never even thought it was a problem lol:lol

Hope you will like Magnus :D  Looking forward to a group shot with the guns!
The sword is from Boford Japan Mononofu weapon series. ersico has posted a lot of pics of his TFs with those as well, I think he bought his from eBay.

There are several series with different theme, some are traditional samurai sword and the others are weapons from other historic period or even from games as far as I understand.
    Katana
    Different places and different times?

I think my pics make the problem look worse because I pay very little attention to the gap :redface2:  Like chris said I don't mind it too much, though there seems to be a certain positioning of the shoulders/doors to make the front close up. Once you move the arms around the gap appears though.... Less noticeable with Super Black because of the colour it seems.

Darn it, darn it, agrrrrrr! *bang the head to the wall* All these wonderful pics of Alt. Magnus made me so frustrated.........I want one!

TFSource was one of the first people to advertised that Alternity Magnus was in stock and they even had it on Ebay. I decided to register and purchase one. Now 9 days passed by...my order is still pending.

    Mine arrived yesterday.

First time with the mould and I really like him... Though one slightly loose shoulder and some questionable QC on the roof of the car mode (which should have been spotted before he was boxed dammit) irk me more than I'd like. (And prove to me again that a lot of these KO companies have better quality control than Takara!)

Anyway, he looks great next to Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, iGear's Prime and MP Grimlock. Now please bring on more G1 Alternitys! Iron Hide/Ratchet, Trailbreaker/Hoist, Hound or the Subaru (not Datson) bro's would be fine. :)

Have you got yours by now? Let us know :(

What's wrong with the roof, sorry to hear about it. GT-R mould has many parting lines on the vehicle body and I imagine a bad QC will stick out.
I hope they'll give us something new after Thundercracker, too :)
