This is my first review so I'll try to make it as well done as possible...

TRNS-01 Function Valkyrie by Impossible Toys is the latest installment of fan produced Transformer toys that Hasbro has yet to release to the public. Let it be known, these are Fan produced figures and should be in all ways counted as bootleg materials and not endorsed or sanctioned by Hasbro or Takara/Tomy.

Function Valkyrie or as we all see her as, Arcee, is a pleasent yet bitter representation of the G1 esque styling we've all known and loved of the character.

    THE BOX:
The figure comes in a very Generations One styled box with the labeling of TRNS-01 Transitional Robot Nueral Soldier 01 Function Valkyrie.
The box shows a quick transformation like set up on the top, with the side panels being that of Robot mode and Vehicle mode.
The back displays Function Valkyrie scowling as a tenticle like creature approaches her in deep space (....Yep, A Quinteson!)
Along with the box's back drawing panel is a status rank for Strength, Intelligence, Speed, Endurance, Rank, Courage, Firepower and Skill all of course being a nod over to how Hasbro did things back in the day.

The boxes size is rather small, very comparable in length and height nearly to an iTouch or iPod. Almost the size of Deluxe class NEST Brawn.

The front of the box displays a clear platic window for a view of Valkyrie in Vehicle mode.

    THE CONTENTS:
    Contents are 3 items:
    1) The figure, Valkyrie
    2) Plastic clear casing she comes in completely protects her from dust
    3) Instruction contents which are very reminiscent of old G1/G2 styling.

    THE INSTRUCTIONS:
Instructions are simple to follow with 7 easy steps which mainly just tell you how to fold Valkyrie into and out from vehicle mode to robot mode. She's very simple to transform even without the instructions.

    THE FIGURE:
The figure is almost a comparible size in robot mode to Deluxe class figures, but can also get fairly close in size to Scouts. Infact you could say that her Vehicle mode would fit rather will with the scout class but her robot mode due to her folding would put her in a good size with Deluxe class figures.
For example, Her vehicle form is much smaller in appearance than Animated Arcee. Yet she's almost as tall as Animated Arcee in robot mode.

Robot Mode Pose ability: Is rather lacking. She has very little head rotation, a little bit of an angle at side to side, her knees can bend nearly to a 90 degree angle, but her ankles have no rotation, but can bend downward for vehicle form.
Her shoulders can rotate 360 around, and then rise from the side almost perfectly up. Her biceps carry a 360 degree rotation but do seem rather loose. I suggest giving her just a tight little fix using a small phillips screw driver.
her waist and torso are not movable but her legs at the hips can move putting her in a classic Arcee sitting position.
She DOES have trouble standing though, so I suggest putting her either in the corner of your shelf or have something not so noticeable giving her balance.

Vehicle Mode: Her vehicle mode is very G1 inspired, and does carry a good deal of detail, she has a blue tinted windshield and black seats but no detail of a dash board or steering wheel.
her wheels are a real lack luster as they're cheap pieces of black plastic with no detail but they do roll.....poorly.

    OVERALL:
Impossible toys did make a fairly decent toy, but the quality issues remain as mine carries a couple of smudges on her pink body, lack of vehicle form detail such as at least a dash board or steering wheel they had the room to do THAT much, loose limbs, lack of the ability to stand properly or give it better articulation.
The price is far to high when you're simply better off paying for an Animated Arcee toy for 12-30 dollars, and giving her the proper paint job!
Impossible toys, in my opinion, you failed on this one, just a bit. I got a toy to clean up now. Fanprojects seems to own you I think.

Nice thorough review, thanks. I'm eagerly awaiting mine. Any pics?

I will say that it's unfair to compare prices on this and Animated Arcee (or any other Hasbro toy). Small-run independently-produced toy vs. mass-retail release by a major corporation is not apples-to-apples at all. And I really don't think she'd be much cheaper if made by FP.

I haven't been paying attention to this release so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but can you remove the guns from her hands?

As I said, I don't have her in-hand yet, but reports have said that the guns are removable.

Very nice review. Nicely detailed and well written. I think I might skip on this one, but hopefully FansProject makes one of their own. I would definitely buy that one.

Nice review. I had this on pre-order and then canceled it just in time last week. Just not what I'm looking for right now. Hikuro confirms that.

I still like it. It's filling a piece in my collection that's been missing for 24 years.

    Thoughts,

    pros

finally we get a G1/classics Arcee
    decent articulation
good alt mode but cheap wheels

    cons

very small and fragile for the price
    minimal paint apps
    some loose joints
no diecast and some cheap plastic.

Medic is a little better overall but they are still decent display pieces.I wouldn't recommend heavy play or continuous transformations.

Along with some other goodies from BBTS, Medic arrived today. I haven't taken her out of the package but man... already she just does not look good. The green paint all over her car mode is really bad, splotchy in some places and super thin in others. You can see white plastic under what would be the right side of her backpack in robot mode. In other places, the paint is already chipping and flaking off.

The seams on her thighs don't look at all secure, like both her legs are just waiting to split in half. When less than ten bucks more got me Warbot Defender, its really tough to call this acceptable, which is a helluva shame. I was really excited for this piece.

As stated, it is apples to apples on this seeing how it's a Fan produced figure and not the real deal. But Fanprojects has continued to shine in this regard with how well built and articulated their figures have become. Which has me extremely excited for Protector/Rodimus armor to come and even MORE excited for a fully completed accurate as hell Bruticus.

Back on Valkyrie/Medic, I think I might try to fix her up a bit, fix some of the paint applications as they are extremely lacking. Add some headlight colors, maybe get a screen cap of some dashboard and get it in the right size and slap that sucker on there, and since I need to buy some Reprolabels I might as well get a clear sheet and fix that up. Question is there a small enough Autobot symbol to tap on her? her chest is rather........small?
I wish I knew where my precision tool kit was too, I'd fix the loose left arm she has. It just swings at the bicep which irritates the piss outta me.

Right now I got her in vehicle mode next too Hotrod and FP Springer.

If you wanna see pics just take a look I do have them attached.

Still, all in all, 60 dollars should of been taken off the price, 40 at the most.

With a little paint the figure can work pretty well with the classics line. It also makes the figure look loads better. But still over priced for what you get.

I got one and I already regret it. I wonder if I could get my money back or at least get a credit for something cool (DCU Wave 15, Predaking, Piranacon)

see i dont buy the whole, oh with a little clear nail polish and some paint apps its all good. nope sorry.

if i am paying for a figure at any price there are some things to be expected but i shouldnt have to do anything to a figure once i bought it, thats bullshit.

and that sucks a lot of ppl were looking forward to this and turned out shit. the price is just ridiculous for this thing.

also i was thinking of getting the tfcon night bird, but after seeing pics of these and the fact that the tfcon night bird is 120 bucks, is a joke.

This is kind of a bummer but if I see it at a good price I may bite. Perfect Effect and FansProject have apparently spoiled us.

Agreed that for 70+ dollars i shouldn't need to "fix" the joints and paint the face.

Yaaaaa....and then a lot of other people are complaining about the toy as well. So.....guess it wasn't really worth the effort to buy afterall. I probably could of had ol' Lucs paint me up G1 arcee scheme on the animated figure and called it good. I'll see if it grows on me at all or if I wanna get rid of it. Keeping all the contents just in case.
