At last this guy falls into my paws.

I like the car mode although I much prefer the chunkier Animated version. Poor old ROTF Lockdown has to suffer being compared to TFA Lockdown, a figure that I love greatly.

I usually like it when factions logos are the right colour instead of this silver or gold that gets thrown around on figures too much these days, but in this case the purple makes the logo hard to see on his green roof. Whatever happened to having a nice silver or white background to the purple logo so it could be seen?
Anyway, there's a not a huge amount to say about the alt mode so I'll move onto the other stuff.

Transformation is easy. Mine didn't even suffer an arm popping off like others have had. I had more trouble getting the shoulder kibble to sit nicely. Robot mode is pleasingly tall like the TFA figure, and he stands nicely with my Mindwipe. He's BayFormery without being too much so and his differing details on either side make him interesting to look at. I wish the hip wheels could be folded right back out of the way to make him as lean as the TFA figure as folding them out just makes them get in the way of his arms.
I utterly hate the huge rubbery hook. I can just see it going wonky or being accidentally torn off at some point. I understand it's been made soft so kiddies don't snap it and choke on the bits, but then if that's the problem why not just give him his less snap-likely chainsaw instead? It sucks too that the hook is on a hinge and can't be positioned in other ways. A nice ball joint wrist would've been better. Same with the normal hand. The engine gun is kinda lame without some kind of extending barrel to actually make it a gun and not just an engine on his arm. How hard would it have really been to do a simple sliding barrel?

Pity there's no waist swivel as one could've been added above the hinge for the car rear on his arse and not interfere with the hinge there. The chicken legs add nothing to this figure other than to firmly put it in the BayFormers school of design. Really I'd have much rather had those joints and effort put to giving his ankles some better articulation.

The head is nice and evokes the TFA look while still hitting the BayFormer button. The neck joint feels really satisfying and different. Quite strangely, and I dunno if anyone else noticed and mentioned this earlier in the thread, but the head shown in the instructions is slightly different, not having the chin spikes. His hook is also an axe instead in the instructions. And the axe looked far more fun than the crappy hook too.

Overall, ROTF Lockdown is still a figure I like a lot, but it has a multitude of little design niggles which could've easily been avoided and made the figure 100% better in my opinion. No doubt he'll be getting Blazing and Stealth versions sometime in the future. Maybe he'll get his axe or chainsaw those times.

    :D

I'm in total agreement. One of my favorite TFs of all time! I picked it up when they first started showing up back in February and I'm not even close to sick of it...which is unusual for me. :)

I like ROTF Bludgeon almost as much!

I managed to find him downtown today!

    Hooray.

Personally, I think he'd work well with the Classics figures - if you highlight the kind of bizarre alien technology he's acquired over centuries' worth of bounty-hunting across the stars.

That head design and the axe actually belong to the upcoming Axor. Consider it a future preview.

Something similar happened with War for Cybertron Bumblebee's instructions, with the linework spoiling the upcoming Cliffjumper release.

Thanks for someone finally noticing and answering my comment about it. Yeah, I realised that was what it was when the Axor pictures later cropped up. Still odd that the instructions were arse-backwards like that though.

sorry for the zombie topic resurrection.

i missed this guy when back then because i didn't like his animated-ish look. now i want to get the mold but i'm right on the fence between Lockdown and repaint Axor. Axe and painted engine are cool but Lockdown has a little more character (and a more proportionate head) on him. Just wanted to get second opinions b/c i'm going to pay above the retailer price since i can only order online at this point.

I'd get Lockdown. His appearance in the IDW Generation 1 continuity cements the character and this design in a non-Animated canon, removing the stigma (for those that see it as such) of his Animated roots. Axor is a non-canonical character, whose head is too big, whose paint scheme is slightly inappropriate for an evil muscle car, and whose gimmick is slightly redundant (an articulated hook? Sure! An articulated pickaxe? Why?)

I'm sorry to have missed out on Lockdown, but Axor really didn't appeal to me, especially after looking at pictures side by side. Also for what it's worth, both of these guys remind me of Roadkill from the Twisted Metal games (especially the 3rd game), so I might end up picking up Axor anyway for the sake of a painting project.

Lockdown's easily got more of my love, though.

Could always paint the one you have, especially since it's just a little part.

Also, I just got this guy today (+rep 808kalams) & damn he's a tall one. I also really like the dark brown colour he sports. It's much better in person than it tends to look in pictures, at least I think so.
