Did a search and outside of Peaugh's video review nothing came up so I take it I'm the first. Picked this guy up along with Dirge last night at Toys R Us. They were on sale for like $8 each so I couldn't really pass on that, especially since I've never owned either mold (obvious in Dirge's case). Armorhide is...well far as I know and can tell a straight up redeco of the first movie's Landmine mold from the Allspark Power subline. I really, really like the colorscheme on this guy, and it really does make me glad I held off on purchasing the original as the dark green used in combination with the red just looks so much better than the blues (especially that nasty allspark blue) of the original. In addition to the different colors he features new paint apps including the NEST logo on either side of the vehicle, the word "Defense" on either side of the hood, the numbers 10-22 and 80 over one window, the number 50 over the other, and the number 50 with an American flag just behind either front wheel well, and the letters CMR just behind the side openings of the vehicle. Vehicle mode is a really nice little military buggy with working suspension (though it doesn't seem to be as nice as the kind of mechanism you'd see on something like the Alternators Jeep mold or Masterpiece Prime). He comes with a gun that can mount on the top of the vehicle, and aims over his shoulder in robot mode (think it can also be held in his hand). The colors here look wonderful and very military-esque, I can see this guy making for a decent Warthog TF if anyone ever felt so inclined (and I'm sure someone already has). Transformation is pretty standard, back of the vehicle forming his legs, sides forming the arms, hood section forming the chest and whatnot, but it has a few nice little bits like the way his feet and hands form (the former being the back wheels and what look like propane tanks, the latter being the seats of the vehicle mode). Robot mode is just awesome. Great overall design that is made even better with the new deco. Gone is all the blue that hurt the look of the first figure replaced with reds and greens. His head especially is improved by this fact IMO. Articulation is plentiful and you can pull of some great poses with him. All in all I would really recommend this guy, especially if you, like me, passed on the original. And even if you have him, the improved coloring may make him worth checking out. Sorry for lack of pics, I'll try and get some up soon as I can.
He's get loose joints very soon. I hated tf-ing Landmine into alt mode. I liked the scale though, because little drivers I have that fit in G1 Optimus Prime (or Diaclone people) fit in his seat perfectly! I don't like Amorhide's green parts, maybe he looks better in person?
I know, I'm working on 'em. Just don't have access to a camera I can connect to my computer just right now >_<
hope i find this guy this weekend! cant wait to get back to the hunt now that Christmas has passed. but ya, i have no Landmine-Armorhide is cool?
I picked up him, Tuner MF, NEST BB, and Dirge. I like him a lot. Nice Color scheme. Decent enough Transformation. Let me know if you need some pics of him.
Just picked him up. Brilliant figure. One question though, has anyone found a way to get him to hold his dang gun?
just wrap his hand around the plastic arm of the gun-look close at the picture at the end of the instructions-thats what i did.
As for the loose joints from the Landmine mold a little bit of work can make the figure even better. Take a small bit of sandpaper and lightly sand the offending joint and then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol or almost any alcohol based product. Then lightly coat with brush on Super Glue. Let the joint(s) dry for four hours or as long as possible. When dry, use the sandpaper to lightly resurface and remove any high spots. Test the joint and see how they are. If the joints are still a bit loose add another layer. If you do it right, it lasts a long time. Another thing that should be done is to use a thin bladed knife and CAREFULLY cut in between his fingers so they can be articulated. I love the mold and was happy to find Armorhide/Landmine 2009.
I found one yesterday and got it. One of the few vehicle transformers I like. Looks great hanging out with Dune Runner and Cyb Hardtop.
I got mine New Years day. What now. I like him a lot. He's actually one of the main characters in my comic. No pics of him so, here Click my banner to see more.
Just wonderng about this though. On the figure I see 50 on the sides and the top. Yet there is an 80 on the top too. What is that number for? Some more images: Team Dune Patrol
I like and dislike things about this figure. Now, granted, I love the mold. It is just... I'm not a big fan of the red on him. I wish the red was darker with the exception of his eyes. Like most repaints, he does suffer from some issues with the new parts (like his inner lower legs) that aren't as painted as Landmine's. He's also got some dumbass tampo graphics on him. Defense, on the chest/front? Really? It should say "OFFENSE" to match his bio personality more.
I got him, despite owning Landmine. It really is a fantastic mold - it's really more in the style of the TF Ongoing comics than a movie style. One of my favourite things about this mold is the versatility with which the launcher connects - I love having it on his back, where it hinges up on its arm sort of like a Predator's plasma caster.
Im not sure why but I just realy love this figure. He is fairly articulated and has a very cool paint.
