don't think i've seen a thread for this guy so i thought i'd post some pics This Soundwave is colored to match his G1 figure and comes in a Toys R Us exclusive set called Gathering at the Nemesis which also brings the Fallen and voyager Megatron from the first movie Overall the paint scheme is very nice looking and makes the regular soundwave look unfinished, The way i have the satellite i think if more accurate to the movie but im not completely sure. This time Soundwave's light piping isn't covered up by red paint so it actually works and is yellow as a homage to the fact that G1 decepticon toys had yellow eyes , Ravage is painted silver and matches the color used on soundwave's non shiny silver parts. Overall this is a much better figure than the original and is definitely worth picking up if you don't have the fallen and want to get the Gathering at Nemesis set
I like this Soundwave, but I'm not sure if I want to buy the three pack just for him. Hopefully the rumor about his individual release is true... If I do get him, I'm going to swap heads with the original as I like the red better for the eyes. Additionally I might swap the translucent yellow pieces with the blue ones, and make him game-accurate.
According to GenZhao, that individually packed one was a factory error and only a handful got produced, so it sounds like the set is the only option. Also, I did mix and match parts between my original Soundwave and this one, and it looked kind of cool. I too wanted a game-accurate look, but didn't feel like going through the trouble of removing and replacing the translucent parts. I think it'd look awesome if someone could do that, though. As for this toy itself, I think that it's definitely a huge improvement over the first one; this one looks like the finished toy, whereas the first is the prototype. Lots more color and paint.
You pretty much have it, the only thing left is to swap the upper torso with the Nemesis one, and swap the translucent parts, which you have already said you'd like to see someone do first. Thanks!
He looks very nice in person, but I just can't justify $50 to get a deluxe with toys I already have, and/or don't want, and it would be very hard to sell off the others to make it worthwhile. Not to bash Hasbro, but I really hate them cashing in on the collectors like that. I know a lot of us will pay it just to get him. Even if he was a limited exclusive $25 single carded, I'd get him, along with many others, I usually don't get worked up about this kind of stuff, but when it is $50 to get a G1 themed repainted deluxe, it is just ridiculous. /rant
I paid for it to get him because I never had the original movie voyager Megatron, so that was a bonus, but I have two Fallens now, and I'm really not super excited about that because I still want the repaint Fallen. Guess I'lll Ebay one of them.
