Got these guys tonight. Man are they in need of some paint apps.
True, Spidey could have used some black ink washes, and Iron Man would have looked awesome in crimson and gold..like the 6" movie figures.

I know Hasbro has been very stingy with paint apps for pretty much all TF lines, but the marvel crossover lines really take the cake. I was seriously interested in getting more of these, but the simple, colored plastic really takes the aesthetic appeal away from these guys. I'm not usually a stickler at all about paint either. I know Hasbro has teams of people figuring this all out, but I would imagine investing a little more into these guys for some paint would help sell more and maintain a good return. Afterall, this has no cartoon or movie or anything to back it up, so I would assume it's meant to appeal to TF and marvel collectors, so making it appeal to collectors more seems to make sense. Oh well, maybe it's just me.

I agree with you. I expected more from the Spidey figure here, but he looks too simple and bulky.. Ironman is still passable. Paint apps are really lacking here, and I'm most disappointed about it. And like you said, there's no cartoon, comic or movie to back it up, Hasbro should've put in more effort on the paint apps.

Unless.. Hasbro knew all along that this won't sell so well and it was only made because of suggestions from fans per-se? In that case, that might explain the lack of detail and paint apps.. Just my guess.

The combined modes suck, that pretty much goes without saying, but even individually these are the weakest Marvel Transformers so far.

Your custom combined mode makes this set so yummy.

Do want.
