Just got mine today. Thought Alternity Convoy was a badass? Well, here comes a new challenger!!
Alternity Megatron is a Nissan Fairlady Z in alt mode. I got the silver version (Megatron) as opposed to the blue version (Master Therion).
He's slightly smaller in alt mode than Convoy:
His swords store neatly underneath the car:
Transformation is similar to Convoy, with a few differences. The rear of the car becomes the legs, the hood compresses in the same way as Convoy, the doors have a different way of forming the shoulder armor, and of course, he has those swords.
A couple of minor nitpicks: The seats slide up to fill in the forearms, as on convoy, but they don't snap into place the way they do on Convoy. They're tight enough to stay in place, but loose enough that they'll slide back easily. Would have liked them to snap in like they do on Convoy. Also, less diecast this time around. On Convoy, the whole undertorso, spine, and hip areas were diecast. Megatron keeps the torso and spine bits, but the waist/hip area is now plastic. Slightly disappointing, but he also is not nearly as prone to falling over as Convoy, so it's kind of a trade off. I know these are expensive figures, and if the diecast parts were your main draw to the toys, you may find Megatron less appealing than Convoy.
Another minor gripe: As on Convoy, the shoulders sit JUST a bit too far back to look natural from the sides. It really is a minor thing though, it's not nearly as problematic for posing as on, say, Animated Ultra Magnus. Also, I wish the wheels on his lower legs could peg into a slightly more recessed position. It's not bad, and there are ways to pose the wheels in less visible ways, but if you peg them in properly, they do tend to stick out a bit.
Don't let that section dissuade you. All minor issues, and Megatron really is a pretty fantastic figure in his own right.
You can see how the swords store on his hips, which is nice, and the arm blades. While we're on the subject, I know it might seem silly for Megatron to be armed with bladed weapons, especially after reading the translated bio of the nigh-omnipotent Alternity Convoy. But when you get to his tech specs and see that not only does he seem to have the same time/space abilities as Convoy, but that his arm blades are referred to as "Gravital Blades" and his swords are "Tesseractal Swords," he's PROBABLY no push over himself. He also has an "Inertia Manipulation Device" in his crotch, but I'm not touching that one.
So yeah, those swords become a bit more menacing when they can RIP OPEN REALITY.
Overall, a very nice figure and a great companion to the previously released Convoy. I hope we get more out of this line.
