Makes for a more movie accurate design.

    .

Really? I love his alt mode's design. For being a likely throw in design, a "because he has to transform" alt mode, it's really well done.

Eh, other than Shockwave, and maybe Prime, the only cybertronian figure we've got (not counting Ratchet yet) is Megatron and that design is kinda...eh

    ..

I disagree. The Fallen especially does a great job actually looking like an alien jet.

Doubt it, especially if they bring the battle to space/cybertron.

and thats fine. because they're cybertronian designs. they're used for transportation, not disguise.

i hope they don't take the battle to space...and yeah, he does look good, but not as good as i was hoping...and he didn't even transform in the bloody movie...

true...but they were sorta disguise when going to other civilizations...but either way, he's still a cool figure...

I had no plans to buy the Fallen whatsoever, till two things happened. One, got the DVD, saw the movie again, and realized that despite its flaws the Fallen is a pretty imposing villain. Second, Walky talked up the Burning version on the Shortpacked site right before Black Friday. Went ahead and picked Burning Fallen up, and I really couldn't be happier.

His spaceship mode is surprisingly decent considering that it's totally made up for the figure...the only drawback is that nothing that looks like an engine is pointing in remotely the right direction! Oh, and the landing gear looks silly in orange. But I actually really like the cockpit, and I think the kibble gives the robot a little interesting dimension that the CGI design perhaps lacks.

As far as the orange parts, it looks silly in pics (and even on the toy in hand at first) but somehow it kind of really works, and makes him really pop out in a display. In particular, his hands and folded-up feet look almost like gouts of flame. This is a quality redeco, especially for people like me who were really turned off by the slight green-ness and gray parts of the original. This is all "lava" orange and charcoal. The hips especially have a really nice effect of dark paint fading to bright orange, as if there is a temperature gradient within the metal. Look for this before you buy though...the paint apps are of varying quality, I looked through about five of them.

As far as the mold itself, the restricted head movement is a bit frustrating, but this page helped me get it in a more quality position. I love how imposing it is. Movie Fallen may be lanky, but he's also just plain BIGGER than Megatron, and this toy certainly pulls that off next to the Voyager Megs. He's even quite a bit taller than Long Haul, who's pretty sizable (and should really be bigger than him to be film-accurate...oh well!) I have absolutely no problems with his feet, just set him down firmly. Maybe the QC has improved?

The cardinal sin of the mold, of course, is that there is no staff/spear, and not even any hands capable of wielding one. Anyone have any recommendations for a suitable one? Silver like in the movie would be great, but in keeping with the theme of the repaint a "lava orange" one would also work.

At any rate, he's not the best Voyager Decepticon (that's probably one of the Constructicons) but I'm glad I picked him up, even for full price. He's not super-movie-accurate, but he serves about as well as anything else for a "multiversal" Fallen (heck, I almost want to grab Vector Prime to tussle with him). And he looks really wicked with his arms spread posed in the back of my movieverse Decepticons.

I just got <- (Burning The Fallen).

He's OK - but plasticy... and the head could do with more range of motion.

I think a better idea might have been a very skinny one that was a DX.

I'm glad I got him though and he was very worth the £9.99 I got him for.

Over all i'd say he's not anywhere near worth £25.00 though. because he is a bit to delicate and plasticy and a bit to broad to be acruate to the super skinny character he represents.

But I was playing with him today with 2007 Megatron and 2009 Soundwave and he goes well with them as a Cybertronian mode - and perhaps might also look OK with Shockwave when he's made in 2011.
