    ohgodohgod those faces

These two had better be worthwhile characters in the movie. Right now I'm afraid of them being the Transformer's Jar-Jar Binks. I'll be holding my nose when I buy the toys of them.

    he he he.

mudflap is just plain ugly, good fuel economy aside.
I'll be getting the bro-bots in their ice-cream truck form!

    Peaugh,

Since you seem to be the only one who has both twins, any chance you could see if they combine in an Energon-style top/bottom way?

It looks like Skids would be the top (since he's the smart one), you would unpeg and fold back the leg assembly at the waist, and bend the front bumper forward at the bottom. That should leave some pegs and holes exposed. I would guess there may be complementary pegs and holes somewhere on Mudflap, and some unused joints on him that allow most of the upper body to fold away in some way.

I know there are no instructions, but there looks like there is some undocumented feature perhaps.

I actually meant to nab them both and bring them into work with me tonight to fiddle with that very idea, but was so riddled with decongestants earlier that I forgot them. I'll see what can be done. Although Vangelus might beat me to it, he's got both guys as well.

Even Shakespeare put fools in his plays. I have no problem with them adding comic relief SO LONG AS their comic relief stays largely confined to themselves, and don't spill over into the main story.

    Vangelus (or Peaugh):

Yeah, so that's sort of the idea of the top/bottom (with all comedic connotations intact) combiner, but is there a way to utilize those extra pegs and holes on Skids and whatever complementary connectors on Mudflap? I see that in your combiner photos the Skids crotch has not been folded back, though I see you have the holes in the thighs pointing outwards too.

If there is anything to this theory, you may be able to fold back the Mudflap head or do something with the top/chest of the robot that allows him to connect onto the lower front of Skids firmly.

Not that there's anything wrong with frictiony head/crotch combination, but there may be something actually molded to function beyond that.

These guys are just determined to be comedy relief, aren't they!

Picked him up last night, wow, didn't think I would like him all that much, more a fan of the car right now. I was wrong, awesome little dude, so much character in that little hunk of plastic.

Just tried it, can't find a way to lock those bits together even when they can touch with no clearance issues. I think we're all just getting too obsessed over a (likely incorrect) statement about how these two combine.

As far as I know, I don't think he's out in the US markets. If he was, I would've swooped one up on first site! I thoroughly enjoy Skids and would like to get Mudflap and their combined (non Ice Cream truck) form(s).

Guess the combining idea is no go, then. Maybe they had intended it and scrapped it for whatever reason, but I'm still emulating Vangelus and making a mecha-shiva out of the twins when I get Mudflap...

Y'know, when I first saw these guys, they were an easy, easy 'No'.

    Now?

    ... Damn you, Vangelus!

I'm hoping there actually IS a little MC Paddington in Skids in the moview, because... it just works so well! Bling? Check! Pimp Hand? Check! Lack of Education? Check! Monocle to show his European roots? Check!

I just wish Skids' head had more paint apps to make it look more like... well, a metal robot head, rather than a deformed piece of plastic. Mudflap's head looks like someone removed his brain and then beat his empty skull in with a tire iron, but it at least looks mechanical.

Picked him up yesterday at Target!

Definitely a cool toy, and looks great next to Skids. Like Peaugh, I had some troubles with the backpack. The instructions don't mention the tab behind his waist, which may or may not be pegging into place (hard to see back there). I actually had no troubles with the doors falling off but they're definitely in the way when pegging in the backpack. Also was wondering if I'm supposed to fold the side mirrors behind his head, since they move. He feels surprisingly solid once the backpack is pegged, considering how floppy he is one step prior.
An overall cool design and different enough from Skids to make them both very unique. Can't wait to see the movie to get a better idea of his CG model. I'm thinking his doors are to be kept up!
