Mine transforms perfectly! He is a little tricky to get the backpack in the little tab behind his head though.

When Transforming him, tab the backpack in LAST. Unpeg his head, and bring it up, position the backpack as far forward as possible, and snap his head down, making the tab go into the slot. Then adjust the backpack accordingly, (I bring the bottom of it as forward as I can get it)

This reduces his backpack size, and makes it very solid! It's a tad difficult to do, but thats ok. Keep trying!

I got Mudflap today and although the backpack was a tad annoying to work out everything locks into place pretty well and much like the onscreen character won me over I think the toy has done the same as I hated it when I first saw it.

Dude, relax. I don't think he was coming off as arrogant at all. I was actually thinking the same thing -- I didn't have nearly as many problems as others have with Mudflap. In contrast, I had problems with Demolishor, which hardly anyone else did. No biggie.

Just the doors gave me fits. I think his TF is a little easier than Skids but it seems like Skids is a little more stable. Overall I like Mudflap though and can't wait for the Human Alliance fig.

Had Skids for a while now but I finally decided to pick up his pal. Tossed the instructions aside for most of this guy because they were so bad (normally I'll follow instructions as much as possible). Somehow ended up with a nice compact backpack and snug pegging behind the head. Only thing I can't get right are the doors, which don't have enough clearance to point up nicely like wings as shown on the back of the card. In the end I just set them flat over his shoulders like shown in the first post of this thread, which I actually much prefer as it keeps him looking a bit more compact like Skids.
Beyond that there's not much else to say about this guy. Not fond of the little bits at the sides of his chest which get in the way of his arms, and of course the head is horrific. He's not as out of proportion as I thought he was going to be, and he's nice and stable and solid, like a fugly-faced gorilla. :)

If you dig for some mods here, there are some that are fairly easy that'll make him look about 20-30% better... including mine.

I got my Mudflap a few months back, and I wasn't as satisfied with the figure at first. Now I think he's pretty fun despite his weird looks. His transformation sorta pissed me off because I couldn't get it right the first few times. But now I like his tricky transformation, and same goes for Skids. I only wish the backpack were a little more compact, but it's still not all that bad IMO.
