After staring at his head I noticed he totally looks like a bucktoothed-gremlin-pirate -gangsta. Which is a good thing
I'm amazed by the number of features they include at the deluxe price point for ROTF figures. This one has a complex transformation plus 2 additional gimmicks. Sideways has an equally involved transformation plus automorph AND mechalive gimmicks. Soundwave and Rampage are triple changers. Sideswipe is... shiny?
Yeah, the face bugs me too but this toy rocks. I am just crossing my fingers that these redneck moron twins don't ruin the movie for me... If we think the face is bad, wait until we hear these guys talk! Thanks for the review, though. I'll definitely be picking this up.
You don't even know what they sound like. Since M Bay and the writers have stated time and again how this movie will have less humour/be more dark, I'm thinking these guys do minimum doofiness and maximum filling of ranks.
The head still severely bugs me, I can't figure out why exactly the twins have to look so dang ugly. But I can tolerate Skids, as his head at least looks like a face, and I'm warming up to the Hellboy scale ratio for the arms (one arm is ridiculously oversized compared to the other, smaller arm). At least the hand is articulated, the Beat/Spark mode looks pretty nice, and the "mech alive" thing doesn't sound that bad either, at least it shouldn't be as bad as Concept Camaro BB's hood automorph, which to this day I keep frogetting how to to get it working right.
Talk about a butterface! Skids is pure win aside from that head. Like, top of the "win" scale. But that head is so bad it kills the entire thing beyond redemption. I will buy it, but I will also kitbash on a new head the second its in the door. I have to have some mediocre A/E/C molds lying around that won't miss a head too badly... Seriously, how is the head that terrible?
Hey Peaugh, just watched the video review, is he a pain in the ass to turn back into vehicle mode? And do you have a deluxe Mudflap on the way?
I definately want to pick this guy up...but he's going to need a new head, and he needs it bad. I'm wondering if some of the Real Gears might have a head big enough to work on him. I could definately see Twitcher's (the High Score repaint) head working well, especially since it's already green.
That explains it! The designer's cat ran across the keyboard and some intern mistook the resulting accidental ascii-art for the head design.
Don't get me wrong, I really hope that's true! But his bio contains such gems as: "AUTOBOT SKIDS has always thought of himself as 'the smart one.' He likes to point this out at every opportunity." & "usually involves talking nonstop about anything that occurs to him." I don't really mind the comic relief, but from what we've seen so far it's hard to imagine them not being a bit silly. I mean, aren't these guys rumored to start off as an ice cream truck?
An excellent mold with another Alternators-like transformation (if not more complex). Love the mold. The chest gimmick is fun too.
I don't see how that implies he's going to have a dumb voice. All it means is that he's the chatter box of the two, which actually gives me faith.
great figure, got him last night, had a hard time transforming him, not that simple, had to watch some youtube video to figure it out.
Same here. That roof is a pain! But it's pretty cool once you get it all figured out. I like his DANCIN' feature. Now if I could just figure out The Fallen...
