Thank you so much for answering my question, I truly appreciate it!

As well, thanks for the pic too, gives me better insight.

I'm definitely going for Henkei Hound when I see a restock, but I'll hold back on Inferno. The only real draw for me was the brighter red, but I'd rather spend $40 on a brand new R.I.D. Black Convoy.

Gotta say I got Inferno today and he's a real let down. Just seems kinda plain to me, what really bugs me though is he looks like he should have been an Ultra class toy as his proportions seem off. His chest looks way to big which makes his legs look short and stubby. Not to mention I wish you could detach his cannon to make him hold as a handheld gun, would have been simple enough to do. To cap it off wile I generally like the Henkei version better his sirens which are suppose to be red are actually more of a light pink which really kill it :(  so now I'm going to have to buy the Hasbro one as well to switch it up for the clear ones as the light pink is just unacceptable.

Overall Inferno comes up short in my book, lots of potential to be a great toy but to many little issues killed my enthusiasim pretty quickly.

Well after playing around with him a bit it's still a mold worth owning no question just the stubby legs and especially the pink sirens on the Henkei really irritate me.

I still love the way he looks. Need to go home and transform him more to see if there's any noticeable flaws. Agree though that they shoulda just chromed the grill and the bumper as they did with optimus - dunno why they didn't. oh well.

I don't think they spray on the chrome. That's way too costly and is far from error proof (ask Bombatron).

I'm pretty certain they dip the pieces into a solution and electroplate it. Which is why the chromed parts are so "random." It's because they need to be whole pieces that get dipped.

You can't do that to Inferno's grill the way Optimus' is. Maybe the bumper, but then he would have a bright shiny crotch.

Could be wrong, I'd have to go look Peaugh/GenZhao's video again.

The "dipping" part is true, but that said, there's still absolutely no reason why the front bumper and headlight/grill assembly could not have been chromed, as they are both completely separate, removable pieces. I would have preferred those TWO parts to be chromed instead of the FOUR panel parts they dipped.

But the point is moot cause they didn't do it and we can't do it.

Am with ya on this. After all, the chrome back pieces get hidden anyways in alt mode, so wtf??? Lame. Oh well. but ya, they don't appear sprayed, the chrome just blends right into the hinges (and you can see the color transition from chrome to red - which is quite weird). Still like him though. On hindsight though, i shoulda gotten the uni. I wish my henkei had the 405 imprinted - gives it an extra nice touch.

Well, I finally got sick of looking at the half-assed hack job I did trying to rebuild that broken hinge on the left arm chrome panel...so I sawed the entire end off, then sanded it down nice and smooth with 2000 grit tamiya paper. It didn't look too bad, since it was a nice clean amputation, and it really didn't lose anything in either mode, but I still felt it needed something more.

I test fit adding the little ladder from a G2 Inferno, since it would snap along the side of the truck in alt mode, and I could rotate the arm so that the laddder was on top, if I needed to extend it. It was a neat concept, and nice small ladder would have been sort of nice for the truck, but in Bot mode the ladder was just sort of hanging off the back of his arm, which didn't look right at all.

After that, I tried a little part designed to look like rolled up firehose, mounted on a pivot joint so that it could conceal the vacant space left by the panel and then rotate around to mount on his forearm in bot mode... which was better, but it still didn't look right somehow.

That's when it struck me. The perfect idea. I took a spare G2 Inferno Missile and mounted it on the stump:

I love this solution so much, I'm actually happier that it worked out this way. It's a perfect homage to the G1 "Gun arm" without replacing his actual fist. It gives him a little more firepower, and differentiates my Henkei even more from the Classics version. It folds away if I don't want it out, and it doesn't interfere with the alt mode in any way...plus it's shiny chrome so it totally matches the rest of the Henkei aesthetic. I thought about removing the other panel too, but I'm totally okay with only having a folding chrome panel on the right arm since the huge cannon leaves him a little unbalanced anyways -- plus it makes me think of an Ammo Box or something, mounted on his forearm. :D

Got my Henkei Inferno today. Happy to report that I was lucky and did not encounter any QC issues. No bobble head, joints are tight, colors are all there.

Man, this is an awesome mold. I love the colors on the Henkei version, nice fire truck red and the chrome gun is excellent. The chrome arm panels are kind of odd but I dig it. Can't wait to get his buddy Henkei Red Alert.

I think I'm quite convinced that I'll be buying this once I get the chance.

Hate to say it, but I think Uni. Inferno is going to get Grapple'd. (I just wish those TRU Mudflaps would go on clearance).

I didn't like it at first, but Henkei Inferno is a really awesome toy. I hope they make Grapple and Artfire out of him.

Oh yeah, and something I noticed today, in the sunlight -- if you look carefully, Universe Inferno's head and matching parts are molded in Black, while Henkei Inferno is more of a really dark Charcoal Grey.

It's very subtle; one of those "Even if you had them side by side you wouldn't notice unless you were looking" sort of things. It means that the Henkei version has a cool grey for all its joints, fists, etc, and the Universe is indeed much blacker.

I can't believe henkei Inferno suffers the flimsy panel QC.
    >_< My new Universe one doesn't seem to have that problem yet, but I'm tired of poor hinge construction.

I... would kind of expect for Universe and Henkei figures to suffer similar problems.

sorry bout that, busy time at uni. coming up on the end of the second year and it's all kicking into overdrive.

in regards to the hinges they do feel strained during each time I move them, it's tempting to leave them as they would be for robot mode when transforming him. Maybe something to do with the process for chroming does something to how well the plastic holds when under pressure.
