Ah, thanks for finally answering my question. Looks like a mold problem then. Oh well, I can live with it loose. Might clear nail polish it if that helps firm up the connection.

I opened mine today and he's a great figure. Personally though I wouldn't put him in the same sentence with Cyclonus.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great figure and Ravage is a great bonus but, he's a little too short and squatty and he doesn't stand very well on those giant clubbed feet of his.

Hound is supposed to be short and squatty. He's on the smallest deluxe cars in G1 toy form and in the cartoon. Just watch the first 3 episodes. Look at how tall he is when compared to Spike.

I'd go along with that - it's just the nature of the character. I'd say he's probably the best "idealised" G1 figure in the Classics line I've seen yet. That said, he may get usurped by Henkei Cyclonus at the end of the month...

Got it today. By far the nicest Henkei release so far, even ahead of Convoy.

If it's nicer than Sunstreaker, I'll be VERY happy. Congrats.

After doing a little looking around, I find it interesting to note that this is one of those rare occasions where the Hasbro/Universe toy has a more cartoon-inspired deco, while the Takara/Henkei offering appears closer to the deco of the G1 toy. Seeing them side-by-side, I don't have a strong preference between them. Henkei looks more 'professional', like a General or some such, while Universe and its lighter colors look happier to me, if you can buy that concept. I had the same deal with Henkei and Classics Megatron, where logic tells me one should look better than the other, but they actually don't.

I just want to mention that the shoulder-mounted gun option is not even mentionned in the instructions for Henkei Hound. Is it the case with the Universe version?

That's pretty much why I prefer the Hasbro one. Hound as a character (at least in the cartoon) was never a very military character, which is ironic given he had one of the earliest Autobot military alt modes. So I kinda like the happier looking Universe Hound.
