Exactly - at which point he looks a LOT more like Prime, with an almost exact copy of his chest (including the circles in the centre between the doors).

They should've called this guy Ultra Magnus... but then I guess that would've slightly lessened the "RB" Red Bull reference.

Anyway this guy is actually my favourite out of the first four Scouts.

Rollbar seems NORMAL to me, so I doubt I'll get him. Knockout looks the most fun and the coolest of the lot. How is he overall? (I think there's a thread on Knockout somewhere, but I'm not that free now to look for it..)

After buying the first four scouts, I'd say that Rollbar and Dead End are my favourite transformations, Dead End and Knockout have the best bot modes, and Knockout has the best alt mode. Dirt Boss is a bit of a letdown and his alt mode sometimes comes loose, and Dead End's alt mode is too unrealistic.

But the smart transformation and solid modes make Rollbar my favourite.

rollbar is pretty cool, hes more like a G1 toy than movie, an interesting transformation and a rather generic looking bot which isnt always a bad thing. solid too. reminds me of something like kup/scourge for some reason.

Rollbar is very basic and most average of the first wave of scouts, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The robot mode is pretty well articulated which is always a huge plus for me personally. The colors are pretty boring and the truck mode isn't anything extraordinary.

This is exactly what I think as well. Both modes are solid compared to the other scout I own (Ransack) and Rollbar is pretty posable. His sculpt has a lot of character as well, and some neat details in robot mode even though there's not much paint in that mode. Sure his alt mode isn't unique like Dirt Boss or Ransack, but he does the job well and is a really neat and big scout figure. :)

I just wish he had some weapons.

I love this little guy, even though there's nothing really outstanding about him. I really think he was intenionally designed to look like Prime.

I'd be all over a Prime-style repaint. They could even do the G1 blue stripe on the sides.

Finally picked up this guy. He'd been on my to-buy list for ages but other figures seemed to always require buying first. Then I noticed he wasn't on shelves around here anymore so when I spotted a solitary one I nabbed it.

As some have said, he's kinda boring. No gimmicks apart from that lever-style transformation (which is a shitter to use when going back to alt mode), no weapons, and not much of anything else either. Seems a shame when he's got a nice bit of articulation. Could've done with some ankle joints though.
I think there was a missed opportunity with the panels on his back as they could've been made to hinge out as wings for a flight mode, or parts clip off as swords since there's such a nice big long flat area both sides to use as blades, or both. Even a couple of little flip-out guns on his forearms would've done me.

Anyway, I'm glad I picked him up. I just wish there was more to him.

This guy is probably my favourite. Between his Prime-like sculpt and his great little vehicle mode, he's really solid. Plus he has real fists, no holes. Great for punching poses.

I just picked up this guy as he was cheap.

Does anyone else have trouble seperating the truck rear in half when transforming into robot mode? I have to apply a lot of force and always feel like I will will break him.

Also, he actually has ankle joints.... he just has zero clearance to use them and the joints seem engineered not to swivel at all.

Yeah, I've been meaning to get off my ass and try and carve out the spot that's restricting his feet from rotating, but I just can't find the interest.

This guy does not last well... the plastic is pretty bad. I just snapped a stomach hinge trying to get him to "auto-convert". :banghead:  You would think that a toy requiring so much pressure to transform would have either better clearance for parts (smoother conversion), or at least some stronger plastic...

If anyone still has him and wants to mess around with him, I caution you be extra careful raising up his chest for the auto-conversion. Everything about the toy is TOO TIGHT (as you see in the video, Vangelus can't even separate the roof pieces! And that's not him; the toy is literally tough to change because it's too tight!). But I noticed that of a lot of older movie toys, where the tabs were made like little "L"s that kind of stick once in alt mode - later toys use simple tabs, which work a lot better. The older tabs are too tight and feel like you're going to snap the toy apart just to open up parts (like the roof parts in this toy).
