The alt modes and kibble in robot mode are really what is a putoff about it to me. I really hope Soundwave gets a better toy later on down the road, but for what it is, it looks pretty cool sitting on the shelf in robot mode. |

*pew! pew!* Autobloke in everything but name. |

The robot mode is really neat and very poseable; I especially like how the various panels on the back and arms can be manipulated. Satellite mode is a bit iffy and the robot arms don't lock in place as securely as I'd like, but it's serviceable. I like the cruiser mode a lot and will probably keep that as his main alternate mode. I've only opened four of my RotF Deluxes so far (Rampage, Chromia and Sideswipe being the others), but Soundwave is my second-favorite, behind Sideswipe. |

Been having a blast with his ship mode, can pretty much make any jet shape you want.
Satelite mode, ok whatever. Bot mode is also panel tastic. Screw the official way, fold this guy the way you want. Don't look at my stuff!! Which is Here! XBox live gamertag- chaos muffin |

Soundwave is ok, definitely needs more paint apps. An obligatory Soundblaster repaint, mostly black with silver and red apps, would probably do the mold better justice.
Kinda iffy on the figure myself...not a must-have. but if you're a sucker for fan-modes, Soundwave is practically a bottomless pit of them...

I never got G1 Soundwave as a kid and so I tried to make up for it by getting this one.
He's grown on me as time has gone on. I'm still somewhat hoping for a Legends Ravage to pair up with him. But he's a lot of fun to mess around with.
Pretty much every opinion has been said in the thread already, but the only thing I can add is, I think Hasbro even got the transformation wrong on the packaging.
We now know what SW looks like in Satellite mode as he's the nav menu on the UK official site. In case any haven't seen him, he looks like this:
You can get pretty close to this with the toy by doing this;
Apologies for the terrible quality, I took it with my phone.
I think this is how he was supposed to look in Sat mode all along. Especially as there doesn't seem to be any need for the shoulder flaps to fan out for any of the 'official' transformations, but they're used for this one. I haven't really tried to get him to look like he does in the insert, the image is too small, but that's probably possible also. |
