Just got my figure from BBTS, and while the figure was exactly what I hoped for, there are a few things everybody should know before ordering this figure. 1) The major difference between this figure and the Classics version is that the spoiler and gun have a chrome silver finish. Other than that and the fact that the license plate reads "Lambor," the color scheme isn't that different. 2) Henkei are supposed to be closer to the animated characters than the Classics versions. So what alterations did they do to the figure to accomplish this? Well, other than the uncharacteristic chrome, the only thing that makes Lambor closer to the cartoon is the fact that they chose not to include the boosters that come with the Classics character and both incarnations of Sunstreaker. So forget about creating a makeshift jetpack for him. Thankfully, I have both the Classics and Henkei version, so I can mix and match the parts, but I could understand how this would aggravate people. I mean, the figure has slots all over the top that just won't be used unless you pick up another figure. Otherwise, I noticed that a lot of the joints were tighter, and the paint apps were more meticulous, so you won't regret buying this figure if you don't care about the missing accessory. Everything else is just as satisfying as the Classics figure, which is one of my favorite molds in the line so far. 8/10 (Henkei) 9/10 (Classics)
The removed accessory definitely put me off the purchase, especially after I saw neat things like clipping it around Sideswipe's gun. May go for it + Henkei Sunstreaker if I see them on the cheap though (for Henkei), to do headswaps for Tigertrack and Diaclone Sunny.
I thought the most useful piece of information was that the new figure doesn't include a turbo booster. Want a pic of the missing turbo booster? Here it is: .
In all seriousness, I've posted some pics from BBTS until I can take my own. After seeing the genuine article, I can attest that they're accurate.
I don't really think Sideswipe NEEDS an engine, it makes the Vehicle mode too samely, and is useless in robot mode.
I like that it forms a jetpack in robot mode...the character's chief gimmick in the cartoon, and the one thing the original toy didn't have. But I would have been cool if they removed it, so long as they filled in the slots on the top of the vehicle. Without something to attach there, they just look hideous. One thing I will say for the Henkei version, though, the free comic was pretty neat even though I don't read Japanese.
Just got mine yesterday. Unlike my Classics which have consistent paint and quality, my henkei Lambor is a floppy mess especially on the right hand. Admittedly I might got myself a lemon because all my henkei experience were good thus far only to be marred by my most anticipated henkei figure, that is Lambor. Feeling a little bit peeved, I spent the whole night yesterday repainting him into Red Alert. And even with that, my Classics Sideswipe still pawns him.
Well, you could have saved all the chrome parts and transferred them over to your Classics version easy enough. I'm playing Dr. Frankenstein with the two of them later tonight.
