I would like to see these figures in poses that help illustrate their seemingly homoerotic nature. Is this possible? Do these figures possibly merge in any other ways you have not displayed here?
This is all a lie

As I expected, it does indeed give him much better proportions.

I'm more and more convinced now that buying them is a good thing

Thanks a lot. Is there a reason for the gap? Does the cockpits forbid a correct attachment?

I guess they're Animated's own twins (since Sideswipe and Sunsteaker aren't in this continuity)

It's not the cockpits, but the pieces that form the shoulders in individual robot modes. It'a a simple matter of tweaking the back kibble a bit to fix it, but I was doing a lot of shots at once and didn't take the time to fiddle one I got it prety much where I wanted it.

Okay, one final backpack update, since I've finally figured out the proper configuration, and I know it. If ony I could have a similar revelation with the combined jet mode. Anyway, here it is:

It's close to what I've already presented as the final mode. It retains the "X" motif from the combined jet mode, and does an excellent job of compacting the kibble. It also locks everything into place:

It's not entirely visible in this pic, but there in a tab on that top orange piece that fits PERFECTLY into the slot on the arm, and there's even a small notch on the big piece that perfectly complements the edge of the arm when tabbed into place. This more or less securely tabs the backpack in place, eliminates any gapping issues between the two halves caused by clearance issues in other configurations, and there is no other function for that tab in any of the other modes. I have absolutely no doubt that this is the correct way to arrange these bits, at least according to the instructions. Here's a better shot of the tab:

And a shot of the finished robot from the front:

That pretty much brings any experimentation to a close, at least for robot mode. I'm still fiddling with combined jet mode.

Thanks for the experimenting and revelations Peaugh. I love extensive reviews like this. I hope a better way to combine the jets will be found. I dig the different flame wings on each plane too.
