I didn't find a thread so I guess I can start one. :3 Let me start off by saying these guys are really cool. I never owned Scourge, Leobreaker or VP legends so they're a first, but I'll go into detail on all of them. Razorclaw is probably my favourite. He's got decent articulation for his small size, great sculpt and good colours. His lion mode is cool and the flip out claws are awesome. He has very precise and delicate paint apps like his lion eyes. Nice work with him. Hun-grr is great. He is as comedic as he is awesome. His small stature and vicious sculpt make for a very humourous figure. The plastic quality is very good and the paint really brings out the details in his faces. If you want a more classic Hun-grr loook you can even pop off the middle head: Scattorshot has lots of sculpted detail and is generally a great little dude. I have two gripes, but one is solved itself: His head is staring up into space in vehicle mode, but luckily his face is the same blue as the windows so it just looks like another window itself. His legs are quite floppy, though. The detail is great and the paint-apps really help bring it all out. Silverbolt is okay, if not very Silverbolt-y. The colours are there and the sculpt helps, but I can't call him Silverbolt when the Silverbolt I grew up with was a Wolf/Condor who was more of a valiant knight than a sky-chicken. I love the Thundercracker Legends mould, though so it gets mad-props. The paint doesn't really go with the sculpt as well as the others, but it works. Hot Spot or Hot Zone is nice, but easily my least-favourite. I like the mould and the colours, but he's not as... THERE as the others. The red is a great break-up of the blue and black, though, and the silver details help bring out the sculpt. However, there's not a whole lot to him... Though a friend made up a story about the seemingly random red: One day Hot Zone was walking when he tripped and scraped his knees. Movie Scorponok then jumped in and gave him a massive-double-nurple than made his man-jubs go red and blue. The others laughed at him and that caused him to blush... ... FIGHT! As you can see, the animals make good use of thier articulation while Silverbolt flys low trying to trip Hun-grr, only to be caught. Hot Zone's vindication was cut short after a surprise attack by Razorclaw. Scattorshot does the sensible thing and legs it.
Hey, that looks even better than before. Where'd you get this? Did you actually find it at Zellers? And btw, I believe it's a target exclusive, isn't it? not Kmart.
I found it (and the "Aerial Rivals" pack) at Zellers, and yes, it is a KMart exclusive, not target. You're thinking of the Comic two-packs.
No, it's a target exclusive. Autobot Hot Zone - Universe Classics 2.0 Legends - Transformers Resources It says so right there.
Ah, right. I was thinking of the Mini-con 12-pack. Tiny dudes, legends, minicons, all the same thing. (though I'm surprised I'd make a mistake like THAT) If a mod passes by would he be so kind as to edit the title? Yeah, that's what makes me regret not getting it.
Everybody likes Razorclaw! Also, the box art shows Scattorshot with elbows, yet the actual fig has none.
Hrm. The promo pics for Legends VP showed elbows, too. Guess they repainted one of the original protos.
Bumping this way up, anyone else have a very loose gun on your Silverbolt? Mine's pops off the ball joint everytime i turn it for transformation.
Overall, I find this set a little more inspired and fun than the "aerial rivals" set. Hot Spot/Zone/Spot: Not very well articulated, but the Cybertron Optimus mode works quite well as a Hot Spot homage. Hun-grr: Nice little toy, nice little homage, even if the mold comes off kinda awkward in spots. Scattershot: Probably the least satisfying of the bunch, not so much for the flaws of the mold, but that it's not all that different color-wise from the original Vector Prime legend. Silverbolt: Kind of a similar issue here, as Silverbolt comes off kinda sorta similar to the earlier "Jetfire" repaint of legends Thundercracker, though a little better overall. I like to take the arm gun thing off for convenience's sake. Razorclaw: My favorite of the bunch, in part because I think the legends Leobreaker mold is stronger than the full-size Voyager version, and the bold color scheme really suits it.
I'm not the biggest fan of the Legends size class, but these are very well done. The molds chosen perfectly represent the G1 characters with perfect colors as well. The only issues I have is Hun Grrr's robot head peg is pretty floppy, and Silverbolt's parts don't mesh quite right in jet mode (and I have the gun popping off issue as well yovnocrats) , but they still look great on display so no worries here.
