Although my overall impression is good, I'm glad I got him for a cheaper price. Even then he doesn't really 'feel' like a $60 Transformer. I've never handled an original, so I can't speak for the build of that one, but this reissue feels sort of rickety and wobbly to me. The plastic seems a little thinner and not as sturdy as I was expecting (I was expecting something along the lines of Brave Max). The arms collapse far too easily into themselves, the chest part that hinges down doesn't really lock down so moving his arm makes it sag. The chrome is scuffed on on thigh, which is fine, but it's also scuffed on his face which is a lot more noticable. The tires seem to be a really low-grade rubber and one of them is so loose on the rivet that it slides in and out almost a full centimetre.
All that aside, I like him. The joints are very solid (as they should be, they're ratchets) and even though he has that 'wobbly' feel, it doesn't really pose a problem. I really enjoy his articulation. Even though it's very basic (shoulders, waist, hips) it's more than a lot of G1 toys had. Hell, the hip movement alone (forward and back AND outward!) smokes almost every other G1 toy. The flip-open hatches, sliding ramps, guns and versatility of his alt modes is a real blast. And while I don't really care for the throw-in bots I do appreciate their inclusion and the many play possibilities that they provide.
All in all he's a fun TF and I'm happy I got him. My Legends are also happy because now they have a base. |

Last year I purchased my cousin's G1 Omega Supreme and a couple of months later, TAKARA announced a re-issue. Then I finally get my hands on a complete plastic tire G1 Metroplex from a board member, and that is re-issued months later. I am planning to purchase a complete G1 Trypticon later this year at BOTCON. Think that will have a re-issue months after my purchase? |

Any handling issues with the encore version? Breakage, brittleness, etc? |
