Further harmed by the fact that this deco suggests no good G1 repaints to me. Yeah yeah... geewun, blah blah...
However, to get a more traditional G1 Ratchet out of it, you could parts swap his off-white bits with regular TFA Ratchet's maroon bits and end up with a mostly white bot. But then you'll REALLY have an eyesore left over. 
If Hasbro really wanted to sell the hell out of this figure, they'd give us repaints in red (Ironhide), blue (Skids or Gears), or black (Trailbreaker)... maybe with head remolds to match. But this figure is going to get 9 out of 10 fans turning up their nose.
