As for the legs, they rotate around just BELOW the knee joint, so Longarm is just as poseable in the legs as Shockwave. Also, for whoever wanted that profile shot of his head:

Some posability shots:

I think I can reach that far!

Gonna getcha!

One of the neat things about his claws is that they're entirely individual. The hinge at the knuckle separately, but even the black joint that connects them to the forearm is actually two separately moving posts.

The Elite Guard (minus Blurr):

The Boot Camp and Full faction shots are going to have to wait a day or two, I don't have the time to clear the space and set up those shots tonight. Anything I can get a quick snap of here at the comp is fair game, though.

Great review. I really like how much larger Shockwave's bot-mode looks compared to Longarm Prime's bot-mode. I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favorite toys from the Animated line. The light piping is a nice little surprise, though I could almost tell it was going to be in there from some of the older pictures.

Nah, not better... just different.

If a purple repaint ever does happen, chances are it would be closer to your digibash since Animated is such a vibrant & bright comic/toon colored line to begin with. I'll be fine with that - I just want them to replace that ugly red *if* a repaint does eventually happen.

Interesting. I never really noticed before that Shockwave's grey chest piece *almost* mimics the Elite Guard's faction symbol style as well. If that was just a happy accident - NICE! If that was intentional - F'N BRILLIANT!

My god this figure rules so much. Favorite character: check. Great colors: check. Kick ass concept: check. The fact that it's not only 4 modes in 1 but also essentially 2 size classes (Voyager *and* Ultra) as well: check & check. It's going to be hard to top this one.

That's it, I'm going to pick up this figure as soon as I can. As Shockwave, he seems to be as big as Leader Megatron.

This figure is awesome! Peaugh, I have animated Lockdown, Blackarachnia, Prowl, Ratchet, Starscream, Grimlock, Voyager Prime, Leader Megatron, and Blitzwing. Are there any 3 deluxes or voyagers that you would reconmend other than this guy? Which will probably be my favourite tranformers ever!

Man... when we saw the first toy pics, he totally gave off a Cylon vibe from the new BSG... now it's even more so.

Thanks for the review and pics! I'd been interested in his transformation before, so this finally solves the mystery of his face-changing (glad to see the Longarm face is NOT visible in Shockwave mode).
Shockwave is by far the coolest looking Animated figure...I hope I can hold out until December for his release. If not, God help my wallet.

Black Prime...Black Soundwave...Black Incinerator...Black Taco
