Pros:
-Homage to Getaway/Lightfoot
-Fits in nicely with other classics
-Solid mold
Cons:
-Joints are somewhat stiff, notabley in upper arms
-Paint feels somewhat rough, not as smooth as Hot Shot's Vehicle Mode
With Cyber Key:
With Weapon: Robot Mode
With Cyber Key:
With Hot Shot:
Overall thoughts:
An excellent choice for an exclusive as we may have never gotten an update of this character otherwise. I reccomend him to anyone without the mold and somewhat reccomend to those who do. I give it a solid B. |

My backpack for him in robot mode flops around and does not lock into place, the only way to keep it in place is to move the shoulders back a little.
His transformation is lacking too, way too easy and not enough moving parts and joints. I was hoping that the doors on his arms would swivel around instead of stick out like they do.
I'd give him a 3/5. I really do like his alt mode though, he is a really nice car. |

If you had any of the multiple previous recolors of this mold, then you know what to expect, just with a little worse build quality, that's all. The leg pin joint son mine are especially loose, making even standing him up a trial. It's funny that for a figure with a Bio painting him as an "Escape Artist," he's one of the least articulated figures they could have chosen. But nevertheless, it's a cool backstory.
Besides that, people have noticed a passing resemblance between this guy and the Stunticon Breakdown, so if you really need a friend for your ungodly expensive Deluxe Wild Rider, there ya go.
I wasn't 100% enamored with his color scheme, so I made a few modifications: I used a silver sharpie to cover up the murky yellow on his hips, chest, and face, and then scrubbed his forehead crest piece with alcohol to remove the maroon paint, revealing the deep pink plastic underneath (A La Hot Shot.) I think he looks better with a less Gundam color palette, and restricting his colors to reds, blues, whites and silvers works well. Though I still question the use of the transparent Pink Plastic.
I also did the same mod I did to my other versions of this mold: removing the doors and carving off the two tiny pegs that hold it horizontal -- that way, you can rotate the doors somewhat, to get them out of the way of his fists. It's not a huge improvement, but it does add a little style and doesn't affect the Alt mode in any way. |

Here's the arm as it normally is, and after removing the little pegs on either side of the stalk, so it can rotate freely.
If you look, you can see the silver bits I markered, as well as the paintless transparent red forehead crest. |

Getaway's a pretty obscure G1 character, and I find that appealing. I may pick this one up if the deluxe figures are still on sale. Shane's Comics - Four years and 500,000+ page views... I spent forever in the store getting the one with the best paint job and that happens when I get it opened at home, haha. I do quite like the repaint overall though. As usual, my thoughts lie in the realm of "well with a new head it'd be a much better update...." but we all know why such things are rare
