You know, I had to really stop and think about it. It wasn't my favorite series, but it was big, and the set was cheap. The action was nice, and the story was epically...bad.

Now watching the series, it's just as I remember. The plot is terrible, but the action and special effects are top notch. I wish Takara didn't go in the direction they did with the series, and it's too bad Hasbro couldn't do much to change it. If we could only get the writers from Animated to hook up with a good visual effects crew like the one from Cybertron, we could have an awesome TF series that's still completely kid friendly, like Beast Wars was.

Ah well, I actually do hope they release complete boxsets like this for Armada and Energon. As long as they're just as cheap, I'll probably still buy them. On a side note, the set doesn't come with a single extra. No commentary, no trailers, no special features, not even the original Japanese audio with translated subtitles. It's a barebones DVD set. You get what you pay for, after all.

When Animated started production, there was a rumor where GONZO (company that animated the Cybertron series) was about to be the main animation company for Animated.

They should have done just that, then we wouldn't have stupid fanboys constantly bitching about the designs.

For the series, I thought the English dub was ok, but the Japanese version still is top-knotch to me. What really pissed me off, is that Hasbro couldn't launch a single thing besides the episodes, what a load of crap. No commentaries, documentaries, trailers, bloopers, take-outs, no original Japanese content, no specials. Considering they're charging $60.00 bucks for this DVD set at retail, they ought to at least throw in a few specials to make the entire experience an improved experience and worth the money.

I wonder how did the Galaxy Force DVD sets did in Japan, and if THOSE had any exclusives or not?

I bought this, only having seen a few episodes on TV when it aired, and watched it with an open mind. In the end I really enjoyed the series and wished I had seen it on TV. I am glad though that I could watch it in order and not miss episodes because with the story arch, if you did, you would be lost. It made me even more sad that I missed out on getting that Galvatron repaint of Megatron though. That is still one of my all time regretable misses.

This review is full of truth, I still don't understand clearly why some people think this series is crap, when it was the series that actually saved the TF franchise from that awful Energon. I'll be picking up the DVD boxset when I get more moneys.

$60? You got ripped off, man. I got it for less then $40 at Wal-Mart. Never would have bought it for $60.

It's all perspective. Energon may not have been as pretty, but it was good at least for the continuity, and the story was just as good (as long as you ignore kicker, much like you have to ignore the children). And I'd hardly say this series saved the whole franchise, the live-action movie did that. My stores at least couldn't give away transformers figures if they wanted to by the end of cybertron. They were doing two for one deals all over, and they couldn't get anything off the shelves (which was very frustrating when trying to buy new figures, and the old ones are still there).

It's $39.99 at target right now. I paid $44.99for it at Best Buy last week.

I didnt think this series was any better than Energon and I never liked the animation either. just seemd like cheap CGI from the early 90s. If they arnt going to go full hog and have decent CGI like mainframe then id rather have cell animation.
