I have an inkling that those weird extra parts are for an unfinished cannon mode, but I need to get my hands on the figure to experiment. I'll get back to you if I find anything interesting.

Oh and I think I did figure out the cannon mode, its about 5 minutes into the video after the short history lesson.

    Thank you!

When I get back to Canada, I just might have to try and find him - he looks like he'll go well alongside Roddy (and Fallen!).

One question, though - is there a second colour scheme available? The art I've seen elsehwere makes it look like there is a version with a grey left arm and purple Decepticon logo...

the box art and early test shots had a grey arm, but the production version appears to be purple shoulder.

The "he's small so he can go with Classics Rodimus" excuse still doesn't work for me since that's just meant to be regular old Hot Rod rather than the taller bulked up Rodimus Prime. I think he should clearly be as tall as Classics Megatron or at least Optimus, but oh well, I'm buying it regardless.

Good lord, this guy crumbles into pieces when you transform him. I counted four times during the transformation that a part popped off. Felt like I was trying to transfom a gundam model. Whole toy feels very cheap. He does end up looking kind of cool standing there once you finish. Sucks that his aiming arm has no outward shoulder movement, just up and down. Plus the back kibble sort of gets in the cannon-arm's way.

Think about it though. Galvatron was an even match for Hot Rod (more or less) but once Hot Rod unleashed the Matrix he got taller than Galvatron and threw him through Unicron's side with little effort. This version works for both scales since it's the same size as Hot Rod and smaller than Rodimus Prime

In the film you never really see them standing evenly since they're flailing about fighting, but when Rodimus is picking him up after the stupid transformation they look about the same size to me. Earlier when Hot Rod says "not today Galvatron!" and punches him he has to reach up quite a bit, but as with almost all of G1 - actual consistent size is hard to gauge.

However later on in the cartoon series we see Galvatron being as tall as Optimus, who was as tall as Megatron. We know Galvatron didn't shrink down from Megatron's original size. Blah blah, this Galvatron toy is too small in relation to the other toys if you want to go by the G1 cartoon characters, but I'm really starting to feel like a silly fan boy griping about it so adamantly :dunce

I just got him today. This is actually the first, non repaint Galvatron that I've ever purchased. I really like the figure. Sure there are some stability issues but the design and overall bad assery more than make up for it.

Just wondering if anyone could take a quick pic of Galvatron compared with Classics Deluxe Prime.

I look at it this way - I've already spent so much on Transformers so what's another 10 bucks gonna hurt!

I also sort of want one so I can paint him up like my fanboy fueled digital recolor for more GEEWUN ACCURACY

Yeah, I agree. That's my only consideration not to buy him...I expected him to be at least as tall as Classics Megs...and hopefully see a Classics Rodimus with the same height.

I think its funny that after all these years, we have yet to get a Rodimus and Galvatron of equal/similar height - PVC figures excluded.

Other than the 3" Ti one, isn't it the first non repaint Galvatron to be made since G1?

yup, that pic there totally did him in. He would have been DAMN SPECTACULAR as a Ultra or even Voyager, but it just doesn't work for me as a deluxe, especially when the other 3 new deluxes dwarf him.
