On the back side of the wheel joint there's a lot of access black plastic that's preventing the wheel from rotating further. I just shaved off as much as I needed from the black part of the joint and adding a joint groove in the middle so the joint can rotate further.

Now the plane is much more level and not in a constant nosedive.
thanks for that..this was my first time modding a transformers figure
im quite happy with it lol...i guess i didnt do it as neatly as u, it being my first time...but now powerglide is truly only on its landing gear..and the chain gun is about half a millimeter off the ground worth it! took me a bit of time to get both wheels the same height to get it level, but it looks great now...thanks!
a photo or two

dunno if u can even see it lol

i believe u can juuust see the gap here

and i believe he looks very cool in this pic

Has anyone else had problems with the degree of difficulty required to rotate the joint where the wing holder is fixed?

I carefully try to turn this in the direction that the instructions state but the force needed to turn it is more than the plastic can take.

My first Powerglide had the same problem as yours. I had to use excessive force on the waist, and it broke. I looked inside, and there was a ratchet joint. It must have been misaligned.

My second Powerglide didn't have that problem. The ratchets provide just the right amount of resistance.

Edit: I'm not sure if I understood your post correctly. If your question was about the wing-holders...

My first Powerglide developed stress marks immediately where the wing rotates on the hip. I could not believe how much force I had to use. This was before I read this thread.

With my second Powerglide, I didn't even transform it before taking a screwdriver and loosening the screws. I also shaved off the first "tooth" in the hip ratchet joint, so he doesn't have to stand so spread-eagle anymore. My second Powerglide is really good now. I just hate that one of em was defective, and that I had to modify my damn toy the second time around.

i did both those mods on mine too, thanks to this feedback thread...so no threadmarks and no weird leg poses
i also did the wheel mod, posted on around page 6, i think...improves plane mode a LOT, IMO..the plane actually stands on the 3 wheels, intead of 2 wheels and the gun!

I just got my Powerglide. I'm surprised to say, I totally love him. More than Onslaught even. He's one of those toys that doesn't photograph well. His proportions are odd in pictures, but they mostly work well in person, with the exception of his oversized head. That's gonna get swapped out (because I didn't buy him to use as Powerglide, anyways).

Mine had the hip wing joint issue (too bad I didn't remember about that until after I caused a bit of a stress mark on one side. Oh well, it's no biggie), but the hip joints were fine. They don't instantaneously jump to a spread-eagled stance. They ratchet every 20 degrees or so, as is somewhat standard. Running change/misassembly on the dud models?

got my powerglide too (waiting on for more classics to appear down under!)
anyway he looks pretty cool but my only gripe with him are his legs, he can't lift one leg without the other following :S anyway still prefer onslaught followed by silverbolt over powerglide. all three are nice toys thou oh yeah with silverbolt the way he is...guess there's no superion appearin in the classics XD
