Just finally opened mine. Cool figure, but the arms don't lock into the sides very well. Legs are tricky to position so he doesn't look like he's leaning forward or back. Also would of been awesome if he said more than 3 phrases. The maniacal laughter rules though. Also wish he had a button to spin the chopper blades in vehicle mode like so many other heli-formers have.

How awesome is Gears?

Maybe for kids who'll inevitably lose the fusion cannon?

I think they're both essential to the Animated line, but if you can only pick one right now, I'd absolutely recommend Magnus. On top of being big & heavy and a dead ringer to how he appears in the show, he has a FANTASTIC transformation. Megatron, on the other hand, has an absurdly simplistic transformation that leaves a lot to be desired for that size (and price point) of a toy, and apparently has some QC issues like wet/smearing paint around the cockpit portion. Mine didn't have them, but a lot of other people's did.

Like I said, they're both essential, but I think Magnus is definitely more bang for the buck.

I'd say the opposite. Leader Megs is my second favorite Animated toy save Blitzwing (though Shockwave will take that title no doubt). Magnus is very nice, but Megs is completely badass.

Plus, if you go to TRU you get a bonus Starscream with him.
