Encore Ratchet Emergency Green version (pictures)

I'd like to introduce everyone's (un)favourite repaint of the year, Green Ratchet.

This figure was available by mail order to the purchasers of Million Publication's "Transformers Visual Works" book.

The price was 5200yen for one, 10000yen for two. The price included domestic shipping and CoD fee.

Please note that I am not familiar with this mould at all. This is the first time I have had this toy in hand. I picked him up because, well, I could.
Having said that, I was curious about this toy, so I decided to open the box and take a look.

The cutout Ratchet head is still present, but it's still white (not pictured). They should have gone all the way and printed it in green as well. But I guess this will be an extra reason to keep the box intact

Tech Spec is the same as Encore Ratchet. I thought Green version's own bio (found at the book publisher's site) was quite enjoyable.

Quote:
Ratchet Emergency Green

Faction; Cybertron
Function; Autobot Medic
"If you destroy, I'll just rebuild"

Background;

Ratchet is known as a mechanical repair genius and capable of fixing almost all Cybertrons as long as he has required equipments and parts. His usual manner is rough though he treats his patients with care, and the soldiers at the front line have the utmost trust in him.
Ratchet has grown concerned about the increasing number of humans whose lives are at risk as the war (between Cybertron and Destron) intensifies, and he invented a new equipment to save human lives.

Abilities;

Ratchet's whole body is covered with a special screen which contains nanomachine. When he is exposed to an extreme situation, it (the screen) activates its special ability to protect the injured passengers inside.
It turns green like a plant gives out a beautiful glow because of photosynthesis. His Cybertron comrades named the beautiful body colour "Emergency Green", and praise Ratchet's determination to save and protect every life form.
Anyway...

As soon as I opened the plastic insert cover, very strong rubber smell hit me. Yummy.

This picture shows him fresh out of the box. As you see the gaps are very apparent. Not owing other versions of this toy I don't know if this is normal. Hope someone will enlighten me.

After transforming him, I decided that this is a very charming toy. He must have been more fun with Diaclone drivers. To me (who's been spoilt by the recent toys), this figure has no appeal as a robot toy, but I can imagine the fun which could be had with in scale pilot figures.

I might want Ironhide now Thank you for looking.

Wow. Your pictures really saved this figure for me. The contrast of the green and black in bot mode is terrific.

Good work man!

Great to see this figure out of the box finally.

I had it preordered but cancelled a couple weeks back because the price was just too much.

Its not a bad figure, but not something I am willing to pay for.

My original Ratchet has plenty of gaps as well. Its just a given for the mold.

Thank you for your kind words for the pictures
Bright light obviously helps bringing out the best of "photosynthesis" green. Looks so much better under good lighting, though I suspect it's not a good condition for a long term display

RobotChan, thank you for the clarification about the gaps. I thought I might be doing something wrong, because I couldn't close those gaps after the photoshoot.

Is it even remotely possible that this is a Mystery Machine homage, given that Ratchet's original voice actor (Don Messick) was also the voice actor for Scooby Doo?

It's more of a repaint to match the recent movie version.

don't like it much, the colours just looks blegh on this mold IMO.

I think the black one on the other hand will look very hansome indeed

Nice pics, Syd. I think you may be convincing me that I want this.

Does he come with a label sheet? If so, is it different than regular Ratchet's? (I know you said you don't have Ratchet. I can't find an online pic of Encore Ratchet's label sheet, but here is Reprolabels' page.)
