Actually, that doesn't bother me in the least. But for most figures in this line, the 'animated asthetic' has been a big turn off for me. And the 'giant-hero-chins' is one of those things I just don't like about these figs. I can live with kibble, limited articulation and exposed heads, as long as my transforming robots look like robots. I'm still going to get a few of these guys though, Grimlock included, because they are that damn cool. They certainly won't be the first TFs I own who have parts about them I completely dislike.
I don't really have problem with the size. have you noticed the majority of size comparisons with other Voyagers are alongside Earth Prime? I think he's a bit too big next to the deluxes. Now, I can deal with Starscream being tall, because while he may be pretty large, Leader Megs is going to be larger, and that's accurate. When I purchase a figure, I go about it with a different mentality. Whatever looks good next to one another works for me. You can clearly see that next to a deluxe like Cybertron Prime, Ratchet, or Prowl this guy is going to look huge. That's fine by me.
It's a Voyager. From the way joopsta's described it, he's going to be a TF that has a bigger alt-mode than what you would guess from looking at his bot-mode. Exactly the opposite with Optimus, who actually seems to grow when he transforms into bot-mode. And in Grimlocks defense here for that (other than my bulk statement), he actually has a pretty big backpack on him. It's not as bad as the Energon's backpack, but it still does take a huge chunk of his dino-mode and puts it on his back. Joopsta: Any chances of some size comparisons with a TF that's not Animated, and not G1? Like I said in my first post, if you have him, Classics Grimlock would be perfect to compare to. Thanks if that's possible. Also, some size comparisons in dino-mode would be nice too, so we can see how big he is in that mode.
Can you do pictures with him beside Bulkhead. I want to see if he is larger. Also some comparison with other animated voyagers. If you have them Thanks ^.^
man, he looks so bloody cool...i wish animated toys were out already so i could freaking buy them....argh....
He's DEFINITELY taller than Bulkhead. Grimlock's taller than most of the deluxes, and Bulkhead is currently the shortest figure of them all.
Great pictures and a nice looking figures. How does he compare to the Classic figures. Like Grimlock, Prime, etc?
Great looking figure. Thanks for the pics, Joopsta. I don't think the chest issue is that big of a deal. Unless you are observing him from under his chin it shouldn't be that noticeable.
yeah, every time i read about someone complaining about that i cant help but think of ian malcolm from jurassic park talking about checking under the dinosaurs skirts.
Weird that the shortest so far is a voyager and the tallest is a deluxe.* *I'm only including ones that board members own already.
nice pics, mines should be here monday, i will shoot a video review on him so these pics will help me with the transformation, I like the sword gimmick, too bad it cant be stored in beast mode.
yeah his a decent size. atleast he isnt as small as bulkhead, these pics make like him 100 times more, cant wait to get mines.
yeah but if you turn around blackarachnias head her spider butt becomes really low, if you keep her head looking forward the beast mode looks more acurate.
I think this is a better homage than Classics Grimlock(which was actually a nifty Pretenders Grimlock homage!). I like Classics Grimlock, and am excited for this one. I love how well it matches the animation. The sore spots are the exposed chest, it looks like there is supposed to be a flap there, maybe it was lost in the factory? If it really comes like that, then thats dissapointing. Articulation is good, but transformation looks exceedingly simple. It reminds me of an Activator but without automatic transformation. Yet it seems like an awesome figure and I've seen far worse Grimlocks(I am so glad I did not set out to pay high up for an Energon Grimlock!).
