    Big Daddy and Grindcore

Sorry for the out of the blue endless reviews peep but as some have read my gf picked me up 9 movie deluxes a couple days ago and I thought I'd give my opinion on some of them.

    So first up............BIG DADDY!

Overall impression.......it rocks...how can you go wrong with that name too. If i had read reviews that it was a crappy bot.......i think the name alone would have made me want to pick him up anyways. so on to the review

    Alt mode:

He's a muscle car. Any fan of muscle cars can appreciate that. Unfortunately I don't know my muscle cars so I can't really compare to what car he is based off (like jolt and the veyron). He's got old school flames to top it off so yeah.....its great!

    transformation:

its simple...i feel basic saying I had trouble with the first step......opening the doors :lolol  its just i though the doors opened...like skinny lil pieces like on diecast dub cars. It turned out to be a lil bit thicker. anyways you keep going and its fairly simple. nothing overly complicated.

    bot mode:

hes cool lol seeing as hes a recolour from a previous line of toys you can tell hie doesnt really fit in with the movie figures....but thats where hes hanging out because thats what line hes from lol. Hes big an bulky and pretty cool looking. Hes cannon clip onto his shoulders, one per shoulder.

    Overall no complaints :D

Grindcore.........i dont really know what to say hes a green bulldozer....*cough* bonecrusher *cough*

alt mode: like mentioned hes a green bulldozer...very G1 homage of constructicon bonecrusher. Anyways.....lets put that aside. Hes kinda cool looking. I don't really know what else to say about it...it rolls pretty good and the bot is very well hidden.

transformation.....fairly simple you flip over the shovel, flip down the legs and then you split the shovel in half to form the arms. thats about it

bot mod: um.....i dont know how to explain this one......very basic comes to mind. again like big daddy (and the other exclusives) you can tell they are not part of the movie line up. The mold doesn't fit with the rest of the movie toys. but again, for movie toys collection purposes i had to get him. PLus i heard that he has the rarer out of the exclusives.

out of these 2....big daddy takes the win. actually he takes the win out of all 4 exclusives

Well, at least parts of him are. He seems to be a mish-mash of several 70s cars.

Grindcore isn't a Bulldozer. Bulldozers have treads and a dozer blade. He's a front end loader like Scrapper.

Indeed, the Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Plymouth Baracuda, and the Dodge Challenger, and probably some other vehicles all mishmashed together IMHO.

I'm looking forward to getting Big Daddy, I love Downshift and I like BD's paint scheme (at least in vehicle mode) quite a bit.

Posted my brief thoughts on Big daddy in the other thread, but thought I'd do the same for grindcore here.

Landmine is one of my fav Cybertron molds so Grindcore was the one I was looking forward to the most out of the four repaints for the Movie line. the paint scheme is a lot more subdued than Landmine (which is weird to say since it's bright green), but it works better as a 'real' world' disguise I suppose. Love the bio. Definitely worth it.

Grindcore is a very nice figure. Just picked him up, and I am enjoying him immensley. Nice deco, cool headsculpt, and the tampo'd autobot emblem on his chest is just sweet!

Minor nitpick, but his 'Bot symbol is more than tampographed. It's sculpted.

Bought Grindcore and Big Daddy from the Wal-Mart near me yesterday. Grindcore's bot mode is super impressive. I like TFs that come with nice weapons and Grindcore's gun is a big win. The wheel gimmick is a nice addition - the bot mode looks much more aggressive. The color fits well btw.

Big Daddy looks great in car mode with the flame deco. Great paint job. Bot mode is not bad.

I debated picking up Grindcore the first time Wal-Mart had their set of exclusives, but I only saw one, didn't pick it up then, and of course, saw no more. That initial wave seems to have sold out of Big Daddy and Grindcore very quickly, leaving tons of Divebombs and Jolts. I debated this time around as well, but once again the 'last one on the shelf' decided for me. I bought Grindcore today.

This is the only version of the mold that I own. It's a green and grey construction vehicle, so it's not quite the green and purple of the Constructicons, though a mainly green bulldozer does remind me of them. The green is a slightly darker shade than the Constructicons, by the way. It dominates the vehicle mode, though the large black tires do balance things out to some extent. The grey is little more than trim, and it's the same shade as the green, so they don't contrast. There's some yellow lights, but they are tiny. It's a near-monochromatic vehicle that's not flashy at all. The silver Autobot symbol is the element that probably stands out the most, sitting as it does on top of the vehicle in a black field.

All four wheels don't always roll. The base of the dozer sits very close to the ground. The gun plugs into the back and blends into the decor very well. I'm not sure what part of the vehicle it's meant to be, but it's unobtrusive. The shovel raises and lowers, and is stiff enough that small objects could be carried around in the scoop.

Since this is a Cybertron recolor, it has a cyber planet key and key activated gimmick. It's not the most impressive action feature... plugging the key into the rear pair of wheels and turning brings out spikes around the wheel. I'm not sure these are in a practical position in either mode to be any sort of offensive weapon, unless they're meant to be a deterrent to rear attack. So I'm not impressed, but the key does look nice. It's clear red plastic with a silver Autobot symbol on it, so it adds to my variety of cyber planet keys.

Transformation is fairly simple, but has a few clever touches such as the hands that fold out when the shovel is folded back. The end result is a symmetrical robot mode that comes across as mainly monochromatic. The green still dominates the color scheme, with more grey visible around the shoulders and upper arms, and a little at the waist and knees. The primary contrasting color that's revealed is a sort of rust brown. It's a very low key color scheme that works quite well. Articulation is good and the figure is fairly stable.

Overall: a good figure. I didn't care for the Cybertron version's color scheme, and can't afford Botcon Rhinox, but I think Grindcore is my favorite version anyway.
